I have had my system for a couple of years and everything works pretty well considering I have a fairly low end system from HD. My problem is I have a couple of HD QAM channels that when you first run GBPVR the video is nice and smooth. However, after a minute or two it starts stuttering. Going back to the menu screen and then back doesn't help, you immediately get the stuttering again. The only way to take away the stuttering is to shut GBPVR down and then run it again. And then again after a minute or two the stuttering is back. This doesn't happen on every channel, just a couple. I was hoping someone might have an idea or two to solve the problem.

I have tried both the PureVideo and Cyberlink decoders and get the same results. Other decoders such as FFDShow and others simply can't put out smooth HD video on my low end system. Like I said, on other channels(others that are 1080i) I have no problems with stuttering.

I'm going to bump this since there weren't any replies. Questions:

-Is it possible this is a signal strength issue? I have an amplifier at the drop in to the house supplied by the cable company. Should I add another amplifier just to the gbpvr box?
-I don't think it's a decoder issue as other channels, especially the PBS 1080i channels are just fine and smooth.

Its hard to guess really.

You might want to try doing a recording on one of the problem channels, then try playing that recording in both GB-PVR, and a non directshow player like VLC. This will at least tell you whether it was a recording or playback problem.

OK, I tracked down the source of this problem and in retrospect it should have been completely apparent what was going on. I noticed that running some TV via hulu caused the machine to lock up. Running w/o the cover allowed it to run without fault. I installed speedfan to check out the temps of my box. Turns out the GPU was running at 115C+. I have a passively cooled 7600GS. I installed, as a temporary measure, a slot cooler next to the video card and this reduced temps by at least 30C. I suspect my video card is not running well and may need replacement in the future.

Anyway, for now it's now running HD fine without stuttering on the channels that I previously saw stuttering. I believe what was happening is the GPU was overheating and then throttling back. This makes sense in the context that HD was fine for a minute or two and then started stuttering.
