After getting a hard time yesterday I decided it was time I actually got round to upgrading my server to 1.4.7.......hmm I wonder about that decision now!

As always I backed up my old version, set the skin back to blue & set it to start '0' MVP servers, stopped recording service & any pvrx2.exe's before staring the upgrade, all went well until it had finished (when it normally opens config) then after a very long delay it popped up a message about not being able to update the database & to reboot & run config again, after a reboot & trying to run config just results in the same message every time.

I have currently reverted back to 1.3.11 but would like to be able to upgrade without having to start from a clean install if possible.

The logs dont show anything critical, and look like the next start of the application should have been alright, but its a bit hard to be 100% sure.

Did you log off your clients and close the Tray App?

Code:
2009-11-30 12:31:17.734    VERBOSE    [1]    error executing upgrade statement (create index programme_epg on PROGRAMME (channel_oid, start_time)) : The database file is locked
database is locked

Yes I closed everything related prior to doing the upgrade, I did notice that locked database message in the log before I uploaded them but didn't know if it was the cause of the problem or caused by the problem?

One other thing I forgot to mention, if I did go into config after OK'ing the failed to update DB message, I noticed my 3 DVB-S sources were missing & OK'ing out of config didn't seem to work, like it was locked?

Are you using the msi file from release day? Sub fixed a zero day problem with an update.

Jaggy,

can you run the MSI with verbose logging and I'll see if I can spot an MSI error.

msiexec.exe C:\GBPVR.msi /L c:\my_msi_errorlog.txt

If you post the log file... I'll see what I can see...

Thanks guys all good this time around, I think both ACTCMS & mvallevand were right about the cause but as I had to do another upgrade anyway I downloaded the .msi file again (mine was dated the same as subs release message) & this time it worked flawlessly.

Now to see if it fixes the annoying skipping through the add's problem on the NMT with .mpg recordings off my analogue cards that works fine on the MVP so I can get the wife to start using her NMT & do more digital recording & less analogue.
