re nmtinstall.exe suggestion.

I've just returned from a trip to little brothers.....

He had a PCH as a plain media player but wanted to play with iPlayer and I suggested GBPVR. He had a DVB-T stick, so I told him to install GBPVR and try it.... Anyway I popped down to help get it working and did so. I said you need the PCH installing as well...

This was the first time I had tried NMTinstall, having used manual copies and edits in the past. We didn't have a great deal of sucess and the dreaded "request cannot be processed" gives no clues as to where things are going wrong.

Anyways - cutting a very long story shorter......

Can "Install mvpmcx2" be moved from the install gbpvr section and
into the PCH Setup section.

My error was to untick the GBPVR bit as it was already up and working.
I can't see any time when installing GBPVR and mvpmcx2 would need to be installed together - whereas PCH setup would need mcpmcx2.

It may be a stupid mistake of mine, but it had us going round in circles for quite a while.

You are not the only one to have done this, I did it also & was chasing around for ages wondering why it wouldn't work, we are not alone there have been others :p I agree with you & think it is in the wrong section & moving it to the PCH setup section would overcome this issue & as a side note the PCH Setup section should probably be renamed "NMT Setup".

I have to think about this but I will update the dummies guide for now. The actual logic on the 3 sections is

1. Files that change
2. Optional skins and plugins
3. One time installation.

I do prefer GBPVR users to use NMTInstall to update files that I think are important to mvpmcx2, in section one. For each of your problems, especially in 1.3.11 there have been equal number of posts about GBPVR patches being missing. Jaggy you might have had the problem with mpvmcx2 but you wouldn't have had any 1.4.7 upgrade problems if you used NMTInstall (and it might have applied patches that you haven't even applied yet).

I should have added in my post that other than my error - it went very well.
Just have to work out how to get it into 'services' and out of the clutter of all his large share list. (that is his problem now though

Yeah I had already thought of that, I did think of using it but the reason I didn't was once when I used it on my development PC it screwed everything up & I ended up having to do a clean install after that. I download patches as sub releases them & I have applied all those patches to my server. I must admit after one nights use I would say the skip is now working as well or almost as well as it does on the MVP..........but it is only day one.
