I have been trying to get my computer to automatically go into standby when idle and have noticed that after viewing a video or something else the cpu% used by PVRX2 doesnt go below 12% even when idle.

for more details have a look at
http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...ostcount=6

I dont mind about the 12% usage, it just means I cant get the computer to go into standby automatically when idle.

Does anyone else experience this?

What codecs are you using? My first thought that one of these is being left behind after playing a video?

Is there any way to tell?
I'm using SAF codec pack, so it FFDshow for audio but Im using ATI codec for video.

Do you have any background sevices/antivirus runing? Send me SAF logs so i can look.
Using ATI AVIVO MPEG-2 decoder is not recomended by me (?is it not this one software based only?)

So if i understand it correctly, your HTPC failed to go to standby, right?
there is good tool for that known as MCE standby tool

The ATI codec uses DXVA - it does look good although I probably couldnt really tell them apart.
I can't get my Pc to reliably go into standby when idle. It has a few times but mostly not.
I have tried the MCE standby tool but it has not fixed the situation.

@spotty:

I can see you are runing older SAF. If you install new one, "SAF-RunExport.reg.txt" file will be created - that is what i am looking for.

as a workaround for now, you could use the hibernator.

This profiles your system when you tell it and this is set as idle baseload, and uses the windows screensaver to determine if the PC should go to sleep.

Cheers
