For some reason, after I have had live TV playing for about 12 hours, it starts to strobe, or only show a picture every second or so and does not go back to normal smooth video untill I go out of live TV and back in. I have not tried recording anything yet, and I am afraid that my recordings are going to turn out this way too. Anybody know why this would be happening?

That could be your eyes after 12 hours of watching TV. Sorry I can't really help but I couldn't resist.

Does it do this if you have gbpvr in a window vs fullscreen mode?

If your fullscreen, could be screensaver, or something along those lines.

Haha well I wasnt actually watching it for 12 hours, I had it on, but the TV was off. Actually I just noticed the screen saver somehow got enabled. I guess maybe it was on behind GBPVR.

Ok, so by now I have realized it is not any screensaver causing this problem. There is also no sound when this happens. Any other ideas?

Nothing really springs to mind, but maybe try other decoders.

Could you give us some more info? What decoders are you using right now? What resolution are you viewing in? What are you using for a Video Renderer?

Without knowing too much about your setup, if you aren't already, try VMR9 Full Screen Exclusive. When I experienced occasional stuttering, I found something was trying to use my video hardware in the background. VMR9 Full Screen Exclusive asks for full control of it.

VMR9 Full Screen Exclusive is what I am using. Im using ffdshow video decoder. This isnt really an occasional studder, I leave it running with the TV turned off, and when I get home from work 8 hours later, it is displaying a picture about every second, without any sound until I exit and then go back to live TV. Im not sure if an audio decoder and a video decoder would have this problem simultaniously, it kinda seems like the decoder wouldnt really be the problem.

OK, this problem actually occurred right while I was watching the TV this time, so I know the exact time of the problem. Can somebody look at my logs at that time and see if there is any clue as to what is happening.

In case anybody comes across this because of the same issue, dont use Mcafee VirusScan Enterprise. This is what happens when it runs updates. I changed AV programs and no longer have this problem.
