It mentioned Hardware MPEG-2 compression...is that the same as encoding?

It doesnt appear to have a hardware encoder in that filter list, and GB-PVR's log indicates it couldnt find one.

dont mean to argue but i really think my card can encode mpeg2.
under the Video capture and encode , my model checks out.

i got it after researching a bit on line

"The product is simply the ATI TV Wonder 650 it is an ATSC/NTSC tuner, and yes it has Hardware MPEG-2 encoding for the NTSC signals. The title of the product does not include HD in the wording. As it so happens I have one in an unopened box sitting on the desk in front of me as I type this.

i will try to uninstall and reinstall everything and try again.

Very good news! after uninstalling the diamond driver and installing the latest ATI/amd driver (2009) , everything seems to work fine now. now i just need to figure out if i can improve the image quality. thanks for your help!

Ok, great. Must have been something wrong with your previous driver install, with the encoder being unavailable.

something strange is happening haha. I can watch the tv and all the channels works fine. Then after maybe 10 seconds , the sounds started to lag and im losing frames on the video. Rebooting fixes this but it comes back on and off. Also, I cant seem to stop recording ....i right click on the small icon under task bar to stop recording but it wont stop.

I'd guess its either to do with the decoders you're using, or there is something flakey about the drivers for this device.

ok i think the slow down only happens during recording. Everything is smooth as butter after the recording stops and a reboot. This is good enough for me thank for your help.
