stustunz Wrote:does the client work if you set it as a server then just add the video directories of the server to the machine that was the client machine

When I change my client to be a server setup, I was able to see gbpvr app windows w/ the menu (system, exit, Live TV, etc). I have not tried to play any video files from it yet but I suspect this is not the issue I'm facing.

Quote:are you sure you are selecting the gbpvr database on the server machine

What does this mean? Are you asking if I'm sharing the correct directory on the server and the client is setup w/ the correct network path to that shared directory? Yes, I'm pretty sure I got the correct path. I also tried w/ CAPS or no caps and the result is the same.

Quote:can you explain again exactly what is working and what isnt
can you watch recorded shows
is it just live tv that is not working

Sorry, I thought I have already mentioned it.....When I launch pvrx2.exe on the client, I see a blank white background pvrx2 app window w/ a big red cross. Windows seems to be having trouble drawing the windows. I do not see the menu screen (tried different mpeg2 decoder and none worked).

Again, if I setup the client as the server, launching pvrx2.exe is successful and I can browse thru the different menu option (system, exit, etc).

I just want to make sure i was giving you the right advice

if it was just live tv that wasnt working then it would be different

The database share is what is wrong
(gbpvr.db3) on the server is not accessible by the client

its either locked or the share is wrong
goto to your server machine from the client and find the file in program files/devnz/gbpvr to make sure you can access it

make sure you have read/write permissions set for all users

this is the file that the "database share" should be pointing towards on the capture sources tab in config

the share should be something like this \\server\gbpvr or (\\192.168.1.5\gbpvr if you were using the ip number)
where "server" is the name of the server machine if you have the gbpvr folder shared from the server machine on your network

The client does have read/write access to the shared directory. I was able to add new files.

So maybe the .db3 file was locked? Do I need to stop all the gbpvr related service running on the server? That does not seem logical tho...Any other reason why the .db3 can be locked?

As for the share path setting, yes, that's what I have. The error log i posted confirmed this:

2010-02-24 00:02:06.347 VERBOSE [1] getValue() loading new key/value into cache: /settings/ClientRemoteServer
2010-02-24 00:02:06.347 VERBOSE [1] getValue: /settings/ClientRemoteServer : Rum

try copying the server db3 file to the client then use that to replace the one on the server
make sure nothing is recording at the time
