Hi All

I've just resurrected my old XP pc with SP3 and the latest directX and have a problem running the new program.

It configures Ok and I can scan channels using my Freecom USB DVB-T stick, but when I start the main program, the window border is drawn, but the contents of the window are transparent and I can see the desktop through it.

I waited half an hour with no progress. The program closes OK so it has not locked up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

Welcome!

try setting the renderer to overlay in config.exe to start with.

What graphics card do you have (you need a dx9 compatable card or chipset)

did you install vcredist from this post (i think you must have to have scanned ok)
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=43362

reproduce the problem and upload logs so others can help

Hi and thanks for your quick reply.

I forgot to mention that I did install the VC runtimes and I've tried overlay, but still have the same problem.

My video card is a ProSavage DDR S3 card and works OK with an old version of GB-PVR.

I've attached a copy of my logs and it seems to be complaining about skin paths, but I can't see where to set these.

Thanks for your help.

That card sounds old, you could try updating the drivers for it but it may simply be not powerful enough to handle GB-PVR's new user interface (pvrx2.exe).

yep, it's the card. The newer pvrx2 interface requires a better card due to is use of directx features.

Bummer. I just tried updating the drivers but no joy. Am I able to try a few older versions to see if they work?

Is there an archive of previous revisions?

Thanks

Sorry there is no archive of older versions here. You'd probably have to back at least three years to find a version that didnt use Direct3D for the UI. IMHO, its not worth using such an old version these days - you'd be better off getting a new videocard.

Guess my kit is just toooo old :-)

If anyone knows of a cheap an cheerful video card that is compatible, I'd be grateful.

Thanks

I thought that may be the next question!

start looking on ebay.
Factors include:
budget
PSU rating (some cards need a decent PSU)
are you outputing to TV, LCD (720, 1080) or PC monitor?
noise - graphics card fans can be noisy in a living room environment. depends on the rest of the pc.

hard to give a good answer without knowing the above but...

nvidia:
ignore fx 5xxxx series
6600GT minimum

ATI.
9600pro minimium (IMHO), better would be 9700, 9800pro and above

here is an ebay search for agp, 128-512MB ram, auction only
