ITV1 HD - test channel

Thanks for that - I'm not sure if it's related as the channels in question just don't play in live preview mode but it never crashes. You get a black screen with no audio, but pressing pause then play (going to timeshift mode) starts playing fine regardless of how long you stare at the black screen before doing this.... I'm also running win7 not XP, but for sure will have a look into this.

Do you know if the test channel is the same bitrate etc as the red button one? I assume it is. Shame the upscaled content isn't more impressive. Some on Digital Spy were saying the test channel did look good with upscaled content but I've not watched it long enough to say.

Sorry, DVBfix is defintely only needed on XP - did not realise you are on 7.
Don't know about the bitrate, but I do agree the upscaled content looks better than SD -just think they need more proper HD material. Still, they only seem to have mulitple episodes of Emmerdale and Corrie on most nights so HD probably won't help!
Are you using a Hauppage tuner? I have only experienced your black screen symptoms with my Compro tuner - but then I get the 'No signal' message. Pressing stop, then play again, gets it going eventually!

Annoyingly the wife had it crash a few seconds in to live TV this evening (PVRX2 has stopped responding), think she'd been watching a DVD before hand. I've not seen it do this on win7 often if ever. But I'm guessing it's not related to the DVBfix issue as I'm on win7...
Yes, ITV could do with a lot more real HD content (although HD Corrie probably wont improve thing much I agree!).
I've got a Hauppage HVR-4000 and a Skystar2 (which has it's own problems where tuning from some channels to others will cause it to "crash" and only record single frames plus lots of green - so that's due to be replaced when I have some spare cash!) - my black screens that are fixed with pause/play are off the Hauppage tuner though. That said, when I enter the scan line manually it happens but when I do a full scan or steal someone elses scan.cache file it works fine, so it's definitely tuning related. I'll do a rescan when I can face looking for all the channels in the mapping! Except on the DVB-T side where for the Irish DTT stations even a scan doesn't solve the need for a pause/play to get them to work... Anyway I digress away from the original topic!
