I was wondering if the GBPVR can support a external capture device via USB 2.0 . I have a Dazzle DVC101 capture device hooked up to my non dvr cable box. I can watch live programs but the recording software with capture device is horrible

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure this device doesnt have the required hardware MPEG2 encoder.

The unit says it has a hardware encoder and a hardware decoder. I am able to view in VLC player that recognizes the capture and allows me to set up video and sound settings.. I also used a third party software that captured and allowed viewing but I am happy with the GBPVR interface. Anything else is doesn't cut the mustard. I can convert via FFMPEG through the WINFF interface but I like GBPVR automagically conversion process not to mention the auto wake on record set up. The DAZZLE comes with Pinnacle Studio 12 but its conversion and auto record settings are junk, GBPVR is far superior.. Please help setting up the Dazzle thank you.

Not necessarily, vlc can read from directshow devices which don't have hardware encoding.

Capture Full Resolution DVD Quality Video
Connect your Camcorder, VCR or TV to the Dazzle ® DVC 101 to capture DVD quality video source to your PC. The DVC 101 captures in full 720 x 480 DVD resolution.
The DVC 101 has a DVD encoder chip inside which automatically converts video in real time into DVD quality video. This shrinks the video to ¼ its original size, saving hard disk space.
(I'm guessing "shrink" means "HW encoder")

I found a few sites that claim it has a hardware mpeg1 and mpeg2 encoding I am not sure if this would work with GBPVR http://www.videohelp.com/capturecards/da...vc-100/209

If you can show the build a graphedit graph that uses the hardware encoder, then post a screenshot of the graph, I'll tell you if GB-PVR is able to build a similar graph.

The majority of hardware encoder devices build a graph the same as the Hauppauge devices, and should be usable able. I'm not sure what type of graph this has.

run filtercheck and post filtercheck.log....that'll show if it has the filters necessary..
problem with that device is, it doesn't have a tuner..but it may be usable only for 'analog, external tuner' recording/livetv..

I have the graphedit software but I am not sure how to get the graph from the Dazzle DVC100 capture. A few websites claim it has a tuner from TV not sure if that means the unit has a tuner or it means it works with a TV and I already know it works with TV but like I said the sites claim a few hardware encoders, decoder like mpeg1 and mpeg2
