I finally got it working!! After many GBPVR loads/unloads, driver loads/unloads, card location swaps and anything else I could think of short of a complete system wipe and rebuild(this is our only PC) I am now able to record 2 shows at the same time with my 150’s.

What happened was that after removing the 150’s from device manager, rebooting the PC and allowing XP to redetect and install them every thing would work. The problem was that if I then rebooted the PC, for what ever reason, GBPVR would go back to only recording off of one 150. It would show 2 shows being recorded but only one was actually being saved.

What I discovered was that if I disabled one of the 150’s in device manager before I rebooted the PC and then enabled it after the PC came back up, GBPVR was able to record 2 shows at the same time.

I tested this several times and the results were always the same:

2 recordings working, both 150’s enabled, reboot the PC, 2 recordings no longer working.

2 recordings working, disable one 150, reboot the PC, enable the 150, 2 recordings still working.

Now I had to figure how to automate this so if I needed to reboot the PC it would not get broken. I wrote a script that disables the 150 on shutdown and another script that enables the 150 on startup. I use the local group policy to fire them up at startup and shutdown.

I would imagine that a full system reload would probably fix this, but that just isn’t possible at this time.

An interesting side note: I downloaded the trial of SageTV to see if it’s dual tuner support would work with my setup ( I wanted to make sure I didn’t have a hardware problem) and the funny thing is that it worked just fine without having to mess with the devices before or after reboots. Not that I would ever change from GBPVR to SageTV, Sages interface isn’t anywhere as intuitive as GBPVR and the MVP support stinks!!

Anyone out there have any ideas of what might be happening to my 150’s on a reboot that would cause them to not function correctly only in GBPVR??

Sub, the latest build kicks butt!!!

Would you share your scripts? They might get my 150 + 350 working.

I’d be happy to give you the scripts but it wouldn’t be of much value to you unless you are experiencing the same problem I am. The script won’t make it work, it just keeps it from getting broken when a reboot happens, so unless you already have both devices working at the same time, I don’t think it will help.

Let me know if this is the case and I will try and help you out.

It's not much of a script it's just a single line that you can execute from a batch file.  I use the "devcon.exe" tool from microsoft to enable or disable the approperate device.  You can get the tool and info from here:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.asp...US;Q311272

Here is the command I use to enable my PVR-150:
devcon.exe enable @pci\ven_4444*00F0

Here is the command I use to disable my PVR-150:
devcon.exe disable @pci\ven_4444*00F0

You will need to figure out your own device ID using the devcon.exe tool.  It should start the same as mine "ven_4444"  the asterisk is a wild card and the last 4 digits will be specific to your setup.  You can also find this info in device manager, under the details tab.

Hope this helps,

I am running 2 PVR150's and do not have any problem with the dual recording after reboot.

Perhaps it is the PC configuration in Device Manager. I have mine set as Standard PC rather than ACPI. I did this when I was using an ATI All-In-Wonder card to record tv prior to GBPVR and my PVR 150's.

ATI recommended this to reduce out of sync voice and video....I had this issue running the PC as an ACPI and it stopped following changing it to Standard PC.

The only problem with setting up a standard HAL is that when you (you may not do this of course!!Wink hibernate or suspend it will not work. The ACPI HAL is designed for this kind of thing. The problem I have seen is with old PCI cards that do not support ACPI 2. I do not think that cards you have fall into the legacy catagory

jjakober,

I had a similar problem when I first set up my system.  I installed 3 Hauppauge WINTV-PVR-150MCE cards and only 1 would record at a time.  Number 2 said it was recording but was creating an empty file.  I removed number 3 and worked on getting 2 working together.

I finally found that there was an IRQ conflict with the sound card and the second 150.  To make a long story short, I removed the sound card from the profile and rebooted the system.  Both 150s worked perfectly.  I reinstalled the sound card and all was okay.  When I installed the third 150 I had to go through the same routine.

It seems that if the 150 is installed first and then the conflicting device they work together with no problem. [Image: smile.gif]  Go figure. [Image: rock.gif]
