This is being posted in anticipation of the next release of GBPVR.

I am running Windows 7 x64 and currently have GBPVR installed on the C: Drive. When the new version comes out I want to install it on my D: drive. I have no intent of keeping the C: version other than as a safety net with my bat files and changes I have made to skins etc. Once everything is up and running without problem I would delete the DEVNZ directory from the C: drive.

My question is do I have to uninstall GBPVR from the C: drive before putting the newer release on the D: drive? If so, I will copy the DEVNZ directory elsewhere so I have copies of all relevant the files.

Are there other things I will need to uninstall? like plugins or utilities, etc?

I'm just trying to do a little planning in anticipation of the new release.

Could you just confirm that you want to change the drive that the GB-PVR software is installed on, and that you're not simply wanting TV programmes recorded onto a different drive - because that can be accomplished quite easily without installing GB-PVR elsewhere.

I already have the recordings stored on a different drive (F: ). I want to move the DEVNZ directory away from the c: drive.

I would wait until the release is out, then make changes.

I was planning on making a clean install with the new release on the d: drive. This woulod also let me get rid of some files I have stuck into the DEVNZ directory over time that no longer serve any purpose. Do you think it would be "safer" / "easier" to upgrade in place on the c: drive to see what any new files look like and then install cleanly on the d: drive, using the files from the c: drive as references?

As I was trying to be non-committal, NPVR is independent and can be installed on the same system.

After reading sub's announcement about NPVR I see I have the answer to my question.

The good news is that I don't have to worry about any cross interference between the two versions.

The bad news is that, like all the other users, I will be anxious to see whether any of the utilities, like UltraXMLTVEnhancer and ParaLED still work.

With the amount of changes due to an entire re-write, I'm glad sub took the route of making it an entire separate application.

From the description of the new changes by sub, I think I will just put the DATA files on the d: drive and leave the program on c: if any BAT and log files are also inlcuded in what goes in the DATA directory. I wanted to move to the d: drive to get to an area that wouldn't tend to get fragmented so badly and also to get away from fighting Windows everytime I want to modify a BAT or other file in the DEVNZ directory.
