As well as GBPVR worked, it didn't always play nice with my tuners. During a scan, sometimes it would find all the channels, sometimes it would just find some of them, other times it would find none.
Occasionally too, even if it had scanned successfully and been working fine, one tuner would just stop working.
I'm not sure what's different about NPVR internally, but none of these problems seem to happen any more. So far, NPVR is outperforming GBPVR in regards to tuner stability. I have a pair of Twinhan AD-SP200 DVB-S tuners and a couple of THESE tuners, (although currently I have only one in use).
This all adds up to a much more stable environment for me - so good work Sub!
