So, we still don't have a way to remove devices from NPVR? I have a couple of tuners I have removed from my PC and replaced and there seems no way to remove them from the device list. This is quite a pain.

To be honest, I dont really see the need for it, but I'll probably add a 'remove' button in the next release. Its a low priority though, since it's purely cosmetic.

The problem with USB devices isn't really a Windows problem, it's a manufacturers being too freaking cheap to add a 10 cent EEPROM **as per the USB standard/specs** that identifies the devices so it doesn't try to make a new device or steal a different COM port. If you have a USB device with that identifier EEPROM then it remains consistent no matter which USB port it's plugged into. If the identifier EEPROM is missing to maximize profits a few pennies then all bets are off and Windows has to guess what it is and if it's an old or new device.

This problem isn't as bad as a related problem with Windows and USB to serial port converters, especially those used with GPS units. Microsoft will sooner or later (And this bug is still in Win7) detect the USB serial converter/GPS as a Microsoft Serial Mouse which Windows still automatically tries to detect despite the fact the Microsoft Serial Mouse hasn't even been sold since Win95 and no one used after Win98. But instead of dropping the automatic sensing for a mouse no one uses anymore, Microsoft still has that chunk of worthless code written into every OS they've made for the last 15-20 years. What I've had to do to keep this problem from rearing it's ugly head, especially out in my boat where I need it the most, s to delete all Microsoft Serial Drivers and delete any mention of it from the registry.

You may be right, but somehow the Mac seems to have gotten around this problem. I often see Windows wanting to re-install a device driver just because a USB device is plugged into a different USB port. I've never seen this behaviour on a Mac. It's one of those little things that makes great "Hi I'm a Mac" advert fodder. We're still the geeky, chubby guy in the cheap suit.

I would definitely appreciate the remove (device) button added.. I had a third tuner added when I added a client NPVR with a palmtop tuner. The tuner was added to the server tuner list and now wants to be used on that server! - but cant be of course. It sometimes pops up wanting to be used even though Ive moved it to the bottom of the list.. for me its more than a cosmetic issue. I could do a full prog remove / reinstall, but its a pain..

If you download and install "SQLite Manager" addon for Mozilla Firefox it is fairly simple to delete a capturecard from npv3.db3 (make a backup first thou).
