One for UK users....not had the web app working since i joined ntl recently, keep getting page not found error. port forwarding/firewall all set up correctly and it works internally on network. but when i access it externally its not working

read somewhere that ntl blocks aspx pages....is this so? if so is there a work around?

are there any ntl users who have the web working ok when accessed via internet?

thanks

Hi. You could try to proxy arp it to port 80 on the outside and what ever its set on the inside of your FW. Just PAT port 80 to 7647. Thats what I do becuase my company FW will not allow this port out of our NW. However NTL does not block any ports.

How are you trying this? Are you trying to go from the inside of your NW to the outside address of your FW? If so this will not work. You need to try it from somewhere else like work or an internet cafe.

I'm on NTL and can access the web application accessible away from home.

I have a router with port forwarding setup.

Have you tried it remotely with the firewall temp disabled?

I found problems with my firewall config when I first set it up. I found using a laptop with a dialup connection to another ISP helpful when setting everything up rather than keep having to go elsewhere to try things

well im glad to hear that they dont block it, but im now rather confused.

have tried accessing direct from internet (ie work and mobile phone). i will have another look tonight and maybe try setting up a simple 'hello world' website and see if i can connect to that.

darx-starz:
i have configured the web app to use port 80, so i shouldnt need to do your suggestion thanks

frustrating....might be a bug in my belkin wireless router but could not get this to work with default http port 80, belkin just wouldnt forward the port. even though other ports where forwarding fine. only managed to get this working by using another port and setting gbpvr config appropriately.

i can remotely get on router externally to administer, which would be using port 80, so its almost as though it expects port 80 to be directed at itself, so wont forward on. this would be fine if i could figure out how to change the remote admin port to something else...!!

so working in a fashion, but really wanted to use 80 so i can use at work etc.

as an aside...had nothing but trouble with my belkin 4 port router (f5d 7230)...if i my laptop goes into standby for any length the wireless connection is invariably dropped, requiring a reboot on router....pain
