How often is schedule checked?

I am wondering how often does NPVR go through the epg guide and adds/updates recordings in the database? My impression is that it does it once after epg update, but I am not sure.

I am asking because I may have to update epg (outside npvr) more than once a day, and if new/changed recordings show up I would like to know if NPVR would pick them up automatically or if I need to restart the service or do something else.

It updates the scheduled recordings whenever the EPG is updated. The automated EPG update occurs once a day. You can run the '-updateepgonly' or '-updateepg' commands lines to force it more than once a day if you need to though.

I think there is a second problem here, that sub can't answer. You are relying on the EPG source data to change and that is not always the case. During the US programming changes related to the tragic shooting, I could not get good data even on the STB so a new scan is not necessarily going to help.
