Is there a 4x3 Skin available for SerachLite that works without causing an unhandled exception error when I use "Find All" in SearchLite? My understanding is that I need to use NPVR 2.0.3 skins, but the NPVR Setup and SearchLite installation provides 16:9 skins. If I use the default skin supplied with SearchLite, there is truncation of text. For example, on the upper left there is a Title for the search entry box that is "Search", but appears as "Searc" with truncation.

You should be able to copy the FindAll.xml from the Default skin to the skin you're using. This will get rid of the exception with 'Find All'.

Find All is part of the base install of NextPVR not specific to SearchLite, if you go into your Recordings screen & select a recording & open the popup to play it you will also see the Find All button in there (as well as other places throughout the program). It would appear to me you have missing files for the the main skin for 2.0.3..... if you are using the default skin?

The new skin I supplied for SearchLite is just the original skin made a bit more 4x3 friendly (not a totally different skin) & will be included in the next release of SearchLite as the main skin I'm sure.

Jaggy's skin update for SearchLite is already included in the latest installer on the SearchLite announcement thread but like the NPVR installer it will not update files if you have recently modified the file on your machine. My suggestion is never make user modifications to Default. Instead copy the Default folder somewhere else and use it, with the understanding that your "new" skin may need modifications with every NPVR release.

I'm not sure I understand your explanation so I added my assumptions in (braces}. Do I have it right?

Jaggy's skin update for SearchLite is already included in the latest installer on the SearchLite announcement thread but like the NPVR installer it will not update files if you have recently modified the file on your machine.{This means if I changed one file (singular), namely the skin, a reinstall will not update any of the files (plural) for that plug-in.} My suggestion is never make user modifications to Default. Instead copy the Default folder somewhere else {meaning a new filename or do you mean the same filename but inside a different folder name?} and use it {by use it, I assume you mean the new skin with a different name or inside a new folder}, with the understanding that your "new" skin may need modifications with every NPVR release. {I think this means that when I install a new NPVR release (using the NPVR installer, not copy in patches), the installer will overwrite the Default skin (provided it is unaltered and in it's original location and folder name), leaving my "new changed skin copy" alone, but it may no longer work due to the NPVR changes from the newly installed NPVR version} {There is no revision description or change log provided with a new release of NPVR like 2.0.3 that indicates which User modified skins (like Jaggy's new skin) are effected.}

My last assumption relates to my question in message 134 in: New user new install and a few "issues" thread that has not been answered yet.

Looks like you got the gist of it...

The installers will only write over older files, so if you have modified a file (there is a chance) it will not be updated with changes that the plugin writer or sub has made to this/these files, the other updated files will overwrite without a problem.

This is why it is a good idea to make a new folder & copy the default skin into it & then select & modify this skin to be the skin you will use. When a new version come out (I backup my old version first for later reference) it is fairly easy to have a look at the skin files & see the dates on them to know which have been updated/added & then using something like the compare function in Notepad++ find the actual code that has been changed/added.

I think you have it. One other point is that the SearchLite skin is not distributed with NPVR, the SearchLite Installer installs it in Default. If your custom skin doesn't have the Default skins my plugins will use the one in Default, but not all plugin authors do it this way.

You really should learn to use the quote or bold markup when you respond, I find the braces way too confusing. Also when cross referencing a link you should include it http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post408036 Post will get overlooked, and it helps to see if anything is missed.
