Hi,

I'm trying to make my generic MCE remote's 'info' button work w/ npvr:

http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Microsoft...20&sr=1-19

It works w/ WMC 7 and displays the OSD properly.

With npvr, when pressing the 'info' button on the remote npvr.log shows the following and the npvr pull-down menu appears instead of the OSD:

I wonder if there's a way to remap that 'info' button on my generic MCE remote correctly in KeyMappings.xml.

Would appreciate if anyone has this same remote and/or knows the way to map it right... .

'One-button cancel recording'

Another question is I wonder if there's a way to do a one-button 'Cancel-recording on current channel' from the remote. Would be a handy feature so I don't have to go into the recording menu and select 'cancel'... .

Thx... .

If it's compatible to an MCE remote, then maybe this wiki entry will help you:
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/MCE-nosoft

I've used it with nPVR and have remapped/mapped a number of keys for nPVR.

I use EventGhost to map my remote buttons. However there's no way to remap a button NPVR already responds to but incorrectly (other than the solution hasso linked to). sub has chosen to hard-code certain key-presses and remote buttons, with no way to change or disable the default behavior.

If you use HIP, and its alternative driver for an MCE remote, then NPVR will no longer recognise it. You can then remap the buttons to send whatever key presses you want for whatever buttons.

HIP is quirky as hell, but works ok. But I couldn't get it to work at all with Windows 7 and my MCE remote. I used EventGhost which I much preferred in the end anyway. HIP is decent solution if you are on XP.

LM Remote would do this too. I'm using it with both Win 7 32 and 64.

I'v been using HIP for a long time on W7x64 without problem. I don't find it hard to set up either, once you figure out the philosophy behind it.

that page shows different remotes in the pictures...lol
but it doesn't look like a 'real' MCE compatible remote...you'll have to use their software to customize it, most likely..
if you sleep the computer, does the remote wake it up? if not it's not a real MCE remote..
[it probably just sends keystrokes like a keyboard, not real mce remote commands]
only alternative there is a program that alters keystrokes, but it would alter keyboard keystrokes too..[not desirable usually]
