High CPU usage with Npvr even on idle

first sorry for been a pain in the ass
ok directx still not installed (well it is but npvr says its not)
but when i open npvr cpu is around 30% main screen
play video drops to anything from 2 to 10%
bring up overlay while playing video (blue button)12%ish ie no change
bring up tvguide while playing video 17-25%
tvguide no video playing 39-40%

WTF
is this normal or can you explain why

Sorry, I dont know. For whatever reason, you machine is claiming it doesnt support it, so NPVR is unable to use it.

This was normal for when directx was unavailable. I've managed to fix it for the next release to give much lower CPU for those that dont have directx.
