Sound device

Hello

my trusty old passively cooled 8600gt video card fell over yesterday , so ordered a new HD6670 card. Is installed and works fine but I now suddenly have the option of sound over HDMI through the TV speakers.
The 8600 didn't support sound (at least not with the DVI-HDMI connector I was using), so all sound was routed through SPDIF to my Amp.

What I want to know is if there is a way to have the audio mapped to both audio devices at the same time??. Can swap between outputs OK, but requires stopping Npvr, and switching default sound device. I like the idea of using the TV speakers most of the time instead of having the amp on 24/7, but would be ideal to swap without digging into the control panel (wife friendly is a must!!!)

Also while I'm posting, have an minor issue with the video freezing for a few seconds occasionally, then carrying on. Seems to coincide with the Hdd spinning up, and suspect it's a side effect of some other process. Not sure how to find whats causing it though??

Any suggestions ??

Is only a minor annoyance, As a whole Npvr is working beautifully

Thanks for the reply, downloaded Audioadjust, and added it as described to the config. When I select it from the Npvr menu, I get a popup box telling me an unhandled exception has occurred. Any ideas ??

If it's set up correctly in the config file, then all you need to do is use F4 during Live TV or video playback to toggle the audio renderer.

You don't need to add it to the menu; that's simply because we can't (yet) stop a plugin from appearing in the list, even ones that don't have an interface (like AudioAdjust).

OK, so F4 does as you describe, cycling through the 3 options. Only "default" gives me any sound. I guess I need to change the config to suit my PC for the HDMI & SPDIF??

Sorry to hassle you if it's documented somewhere how to change this to suit, but if it is , I haven't come across it..

I have noticed an optical sound output on the back of the TV, so it may be that the HDMI to TV could be default, with the Amp running off re-transmission. Will get an optical connector and see...
If it works, is a simple solution, assuming I can still select AC3.

That sounds like you've literally used "HDMI" and "SPDIF" as the other options? They were just examples I gave... you need to use the *exact* names for the devices you see listed in the Audio Renderer combo box on the Decoders tab (of the Settings dialog). So it might be things like "High Definition Audio Device", "ATI HDMI Audio Device", "Realtek Digital Output", etc, etc...

You only need to include the ones you want the plugin to cycle through.
