Question for you guys:

First, here are the specs of my setup:
P4 2.8 GHz
512 RAM
Hauppauge PVR-150 Capture Card
Radeon X300 128MB Video Card
Standard Defintion Sony WEGA 32" TV
DirecTV standard def. set top box
IR blaster
All S-Video connections

When I first got my system up and running, I noticed that while running GB-PVR, the resulting picture on my TV screen was a bit washed out and slightly fuzzy compared to the picture I get with the DirecTV box hooked straight up to the TV.

Then I read something about DScaler.  I installed DScaler, played around with some of the brightness/contrast/etc. settings, and viewed the resulting picture on my TV (just a direct feed from the DirecTV box, through the computer, and to the TV -- without GB-PVR running.)  The picture looked great.

I was hoping that once I installed DScaler, I would then see picture improvements while watching TV through GB-PVR.  (Did it install codecs?)  Unfortunately, even after installing DScaler, I still see the same fuzzy, washed-out picture through GB-PVR.

My question is: Is there a way to implement my DScaler settings so that GB-PVR can take advantage of them?  I read something about a "DScaler overlay," but I'm not sure if I'm on the right track.

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but I've poked around in the config settings and in the forums for more information, but I can't seem to figure out whether or not this is possible.

Alternatively (if DScaler won't work), are there other apps/codecs I can install to tweak my display?  For example, I also read something about ffdshow (and I see this option in the GB-PVR config settings), but I'm not sure how to go about implementing this.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Sorry, I know that was a very short answer for the long post [Image: biggrin.gif]

Really - look into FFDShow. It does the sort of fine grained image manipulation that your looking for.

Thanks for the tip ... sometimes the best answers are the shortest ones!

I'll give ffdshow a whirl tonight and see how it goes.
