I have a Zbox AD02 running as a client in the kitchen, but I got a WAF downgrade e-mail this morning because after a resume from standby she "claims" she often sees an error on the screen saying "server database not found". Of course I didn't believe her so this morning she sent me photo evidence.

After clicking ok to dismiss the error npvr imediatley fires up and all is fine, but I cant understand if i'm getting the error because it did not go to sleep properly or because it woke up and kicked of npvr before the network was initialised of similar.

I have setup event ghost run a batch file when the power button is pressed that kills all NPVR related processes then put it into S3, then it runs them again after resume. That seems to work if I hit the power button but if I leave the machine idle I dont see a way to run batch file before it sleeps due to the sleep timer.

anyone got any pointers?

I had what sounds like the same problem with one of my clients. When I woke up the PC I could see in the taskbar that the network was taking a while to connect for some reason and I would get that error if I started up NPVR too soon. A clue was that this PC was only connecting at 100Mbps on my all-Gigabit network. It turned out that there was a problem with my ethernet cable at that location - I replaced it and now it always connects right away and no more errors. You might want to check the cable assuming you aren't running wireless. In any case, I think you need some delay after startup before you run NPVR if you don't have one already.

I got this error regularly on the client until I used a startup script. The main problem was NextPVR.exe starting on the client before it was on the network but by the time you cancel the error it is networked. However you obviously also get the error if for any reason the client cannot contact the server which could be the router switched off, the server asleep or loose cable.

My script first waits until the client is on the network then pings the router and if that is on the network it ping the servers. If the server is not on the network it sends a WOL and only when the server is on the network do I start NPVR on the client.

Thanks for the responces, im using homeplug which probably doesnt help. But i found a ping plugin for event ghost so i should be able to use that to trigger npvr when the server is available. I will also move the client to a static ip which might help speed up things.

Yep I guess she was about 14 months old there, taken at the end of August last year....no.2 is due in January so I'm in full decoration mode. Being Dad is amazing but never have I been so knackered!

Photo is at a Pub called the square and Compass down in Dorset from whence I originate. The place is amazing it's not really changed in years and years steeped with interesting history, unfortunatley these days it has become rather famous with the London second home brigade:

But catch it on still evening a little bit out of season and it's one of the finest places to gulp a pint.

The Belkin home plug was an emergency Argos purchase: http://en-uk-support.belkin.com/app/prod...ail/p/5478

It does the job just not sure it would be up to HD, since freesat went S2 I have not tried, It'll be on ebay as soon as I sort out a good enough wireless connection.

Bet she has grown a bit since then! All happens so fast and I have only experienced 3 months (my little girl over twice the birth weight already and growing fast!) Blimey hard to keep up Wink

Knackered, now I think I know the meaning of the word Big Grin I've been decorating, doing electrics etc for what seems like ages to make everything right for my little one. And she arrived before I had finished!!!

Looks very good, and like our kind of experience, (not with busy crowd) when we get the chance to go out again will check it out (go camping in Dorset usually every year, well usually until now!!!)

Do you think the wireless would handle HD though? I went Devolo for all of my Ethernet over Power stuff....

great stuff, Daddy Elmo P Wink

cheers
