Title pretty much sums it up - I have installed a new DCR-2650 on my system, everything is working in WMC, but when I go under Settings, and Devices in NPVR, only my old card shows up there. I have the newest version AND the cumulative patch installed, I tried turning off my firewall, but nothing.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

You need to have the HDHomeRun software installed for it to show up.

Would that be the file located here:

http://download.silicondust.com/hdhomeru...111025.exe

Because I did install this software already.

From memory, it's looking for "C:\Program Files\Silicondust\HDHomeRun\hdhomerun_config.exe". Do you have that file, in that location?

Ahh. I try to install programs somewhere other than the default directories - the program was on D:. When I moved it to the above, the tuners were found.

Thanks. I'll see how things go now.

Okay, so back from visiting family. Got the files installed in the right place this time, but still having problems. With the HDHomeRun software installed properly, I was able to see the two tuners in the settings, and was able to setup the channels. But while I can watch live tv and record programs using WMC, when I try either from NPVR I get stuck - nothing displays on live, and a 0 byte file gets recorded when trying to record (and I have to kill the program and the service to get it unlocked). The tuner light lights up, and the web access status page says it gets tuned to the correct channel, but nothing more than that.

I can look at this further tomorrow, but there is one thing I noticed here - the NRecord.log file shows it trying to use IP address 192.168.141.82, while the web status page shows the proper address being 192.168.141.81. And in fact, if from the command line I run "hdhomerun_config discover", it says, "hdhomerun device 201118C2 found at 192.168.141.81". Could this be the problem?

Thanks.

The most common cause of problems like this with HDHomeRun is firewall stopping network traffic getting to nrecord.exe from the HDHomeRun.

It could be something to do with your ipaddress problem though. If you post the log, I'll take a look.

This is what happens when you mess with things in parts over a period of a week - I had tried disabling the firewall before, but forgot to this time. As you guessed, when I turned off the firewall, it works. Took me a while to figure out what needed to be added as exceptions, but now I'm running okay with the firewall activated.

Is there a list somewhere of the firewall rules that need to be made in order for this to work? I've probably added more exceptions than were necessary, so I'll have to go back sometime and get rid of some things just to be clean.

Thanks again - I guess you probably get tired of answering the same question over and over again.
