Just downloaded NextPVR and it seems to run fine so far. Issue is I need to change channels on my STB. I ordered in a USBIRT, but I can't find any info on getting it to run with NextPVR. Searching the forum comes up with it working in gbPVR, and all examples are with a program called usbuirtsend.exe

Anyone know where I can find this program, or have a walk through on getting the usbirt to change channels from NextPVR?

In Settings devices, double click your device, and add the path to the executable, copy attached.
In the next line add the path to your dat file.

C:\Program Files\NPVR\ChanChg\USBUIRTSend.exe
"C:\Program Files\NPVR\ChanChg\IRDefs\HKNowBB YX-5218A.dat" {channel}

quotes needed for the 2nd line

Making a dat file is the hard part.
Sub used to have an in-built learning utility in GBPVR but that's no longer in NPVR.

He did however provide a learning utility, USBUIRTLearn.exe, also attached, although it did not work for me, I had to use the dat file from the old GBPVR learning time.

You may have some luck with the USBUIRT lrnelper utility, copies also attached.

Good luck!

Thanks A mil.

I will play around with it this weekend and see what I can come up with.

I also downloaded Eventgohst, as it is supposed to be able to learn codes.

Anyone know if there is a site that would hold IR codes for different remotes? If the companies know how to have their remotes interact with other vendor's equipment, there must be a master list of what codes need to be sent for a specific vendor. Just need to find them.

Thanks again for posting the aps.

I just ran some tests with the lnrhelper util and it works great. I can grab all the IR codes now in Pronto format.

I just need to know what format the ir def. file is supposed to be in. Anyone have a dat file they could attach so I can see the format and modify it to work with my receiver codes?

Thanks again.

SUCCESS!

Thanks for the apps.

I did not realize that the USBUIRTSend archive had a command line learning utility that creates an IR dat file for you. That worked perfect.

Only change I had to make was to keep the path for the IR dat file without quotes.

So now I have the sat. box changing channels perfectly.

Second question, can USBUIRTSend differentiate between the zones on the USBIRT? I have two receivers I want to get running. Now that the first is functioning, I am going to craft up a dual LED transmitter for the plug on the back. But I need to figure out how to get not just the channel specification to the USBIRT but the zone as well so it signals on the correct transmitter.

Glad you got it working, hope it helps someone else at some stage.
I used a Smarthome Stick-on IR Emitter #817OS which plugs into the 3.5mm jack, but it's a single zone plug.
You'd need the one with two zones as per sketch below OR 2 x single zones and a splitter adapter which has the two zones in its pin system.

If you edit the IR dat file you can put Z1 or Z2 (or Z3) in front of the first code on each line, the code will therafter be sent only to that zone.

So is the command a "Z1" or "Z2" (literal), or is it the address on the USBUIRT for Z1 that I need to know and place in front?

Thanks for all the help. This forum has been an excellent support group Smile

Without bragging, this is the best support forum in the inner solar system Big Grin

You put the zone indicator first on each line, like:

Z2xxxxxxxx yyyyyyyy aaaaaaaa etc.
