My A110 is nearly dead. Looking for a recommendation of a good media player that will stream over NFS shares .TS files from NPVR.

Any ideas on the Micca players, looking at the Micca EP600G2.

Thanks for any help and guidance.

When the A100/A110 came out it raised the bar and for a short time there really was a best but since then the market quickly diverged and there isn't really a best or an industry favourite anymore, not to mention that there are a lot features that not everyone wants (HD Audio, BD iso, Full 3D).

When it comes down mpeg-ts playback, that really can vary only the old SageTV boxes and mvpmc2 really put effort into making it work. Most companies just let the h/w play it and so performance will depend on how your cable/satellite company muxes the audio and video. I know a lot of them hiccup on certain QAM streams from some cable providers and also from cablecard muxed streams. The only safe bet for broadcast are the WMC extenders and they typically aren't the best media players. If your streams play on a smartphone or tablet you probably can get by with Realtek devices like the Micca or other low prices boxes like the WD. Try to find a seller with a liberal return policy.

Other cheap devices that can rum XBMC PVR like the RPi and Pivos XS or OpenElect on other platforms aren't bad choices for mpeg-ts but they aren't close to full extenders for BD or HD Audio playback. On top of that XBMC itself isn't as good as NextPVR/mvpmc2 for mpeg-ts playback.

Thanks for assessment/wisdom on this topic. You gave me some other ideas I didn't know about as far as XBMC options...... Knowing how good mvpmc2 is ....I was hoping you could steer me to another player that you are targeting for further development and support for it. Any glimmer of hope there? Thanks Martin...for everything.
