NPVR vs XBMC playback, XBMC does better, why?

I have SAF 6.21 installed. My settings are as follows:

Renderers: EVR / Default / Default
Video Decoders: LAV Video Decoder (all)
Audio Decoders: LAV Audio Decoder (all)

You need to setup nPVR acording SAF thread - first page. If you setup all to LAVF it will not work correctly.

Screw codec packs just use cyberlink

After suffering through years of black screen and display issues with gbpvr/npvr, I've decided to install win 7 instead of xp in the hope of solving them. In trying to find appropriate codecs for OTA ATSC, I've tried installing these filters from windvd 13. However, the directshow filter manager doesn't have the buttons to add filters! This is on win7 32 bit. Is there an alternative to add these filters?

DXVAchecker has options to Register or Unregister decoders under the DSF tab.

The new verions are not, they do not register filters, but the older ones, v.10 and older was. They installed more then 50 filters. So do not tell me it is not a codec pack

To Wakalaka - I also use XBMC but rather than exit nPVR, I add XBMC as a menu option to nPVR via the config.xml file and run it on top so it can then access nPVR's recordings.
