I did, and made sure its selected in the NextPVR Settings > Decoders. I also have it set to show the tray icon so I can see its being used. Tried repairing, re-registering components also but same thing - it will play perfectly for a few seconds tops in Windows Media Player and then glitch out and the program will crash sometimes or stop responding for a while.

Did you re-process it somehow - is that you your referring to?

I actually let it continue playing after it seemingly freezes, stops responding and it recovers and can then play for a while and only occasionally gets screwed up but it's too much of an inconvenience to be acceptable unfortunately.

For xbmc I had to manually remux yes. xbmc and many other players have a problem when there are two program streams showing in the mux and it picks the wrong one. here is the xbmc log confirming that

Code:

If you have access to mpc-hc you likely will be able to play it, I am surprised that NextPVR doesn't work for you.

I guess part of it was due to impatience but I was able to get playback in NPVR as well as WMP but it is a bit slow and does lag from time to time. I can play full compressed 1080p okay so I doubt it's a hardware limitation slowing things down.

I still have issues playing a live tv stream however and I think part of it may be due to the fact that the file-size doesn't get updated while its being modified. It stays at 0 until I tell it to stop.

I'll give it a shot with mpc-hc. Can I twerk the playback settings of NPVR or WMP to remux it? Or omit the streams I don't need?

Is $5 really too much for potentially a good solution? I think I've explained the problem the best I can.

It's not that $5 is too much but when everything else is completely free, I'd rather wait for a free solution. I don't see why just one component in this whole configuration should have to cost anything. The biggest thing is that I don't actually know if it will work if I do donate $5 at which point it would be a complete waste. If there was a 30 day trial or something of that sort then I could at least verify it works first. I also would argue that it might not in fact be necessary and I doubt I've exhausted all other possibilities.

I appreciate your efforts and I think I do understand it a lot better now thanks to your help. For all I know it's Win 8 that's screwing things up. I spent a week trying to get Media Center working on Win8 and I'd luck out here and there and get it working for a few hours but as soon as I switch back to Win 7 things swim along perfectly so who knows. That is the main reason I moved efforts into NPVR but if I can't get it working almost flawlessly after a week I will retreat back to Win7.
