I have an AverMedia H826 Hybrid Tuner. I found the instruction for setting up analog video. When I tried to run the SoftPVR bat file with the latest wintv7_cd_3.5.exe, it gave me an error.

So, I created a AnalogDevice.xml file and put into root of NPVR folder, but still no option under device settings. I am attaching the xml and the filtercheck results. Can someone please help me?

Thanks,
Tony

There's a thread from roughly a year ago about this same error: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...-this-time.

It looks like Hauppauge neglected to put some quotes in the batch files so paths with spaces in the name are found. Also, make sure you run the command from an elevated prompt (Shift+Right Click -> Run as Administrator - you probably know this already, but just a quick reminder).

I manually extracted the files to C:\temp1 and then copied them to temp2 and ran the last part of the bat file to get everything registered. There is no longer a WinTV7Setup.exe after the first extraction, once you extract the files from the WINTV7_cd_*.exe then you have the files that get copied and registered. The two step process in the bat is no longer necessary.

Now I see a device for Analog in my device list, but when I try to use SVideo or Composite all I get is sound and a black screen. I go to settings > device > Device Setup (for Analog Device) > Add > Input Source > SVideo. Then I give a name and save. Now I have audio and no video. I posted my FilterCheck in the original post if someone can offer me more help. Thanks.

Do you have a MPEG2 decoder selected in the Decoders section of Setting? If you're on Win 7 select the Microsoft DTV/DVD Decoder. Maybe a decoder came with the tuner card? Or the Hauppauge WintV setup disk. Someone else can offer advice on what works for analog SD these days.

The MPEG2 decoder was disabled. Kind of odd for a default. Now I have audio and video. The only thing missing is record buttons? Can I timeshift TV and record at the same time?

Record is ctrl-K, I think. Check the wiki for key mappings for the full list. You can play/watch a recording while it is recording, and pause, skip back or forward (to the current spot in the recording). You can pause and skip live TV, but a temporary file is created for this, and not saved. I prefer to record and then watch the recording in progress. I delete the recording at the end if I decide I don't want it for future viewing.

I think Sub leaves the decoders unselected because he doesn't know which you want to use, or is best for you, for the various video and audio formats in the world.

@tony95: did you miss the later "beta" version of the SoftPVR.bat on the wiki page? http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ugeSoftPVR
I modified it to work with WinTV7 3.2 and later, though the "and later" part is missing from the page. I suppose at this point the "beta" version ought to become the regular version, perhaps with the old version retained in case anyone wants to run against an older version of the WinTV download (though I don't know why anyone would). AFAIK the softpvr components haven't changed in years anyway.

No, I never attempted to use the beta. It wasn't clear to me that this would be a good option. I am happy that I have the program working. I like the playback while recording. I am definitely going to use this as my main PVR application. The responsiveness is very good and the background recording is very efficient in terms of processor usage. Good job so far on NPVR. The only thing I would say in addition is that the slider during playback lacks precision. I am having a little trouble getting to the exact point I want in the video especially at the edges. Also, would be nice to have a record button with setting that could be customized by individual user, but I think there is a hot-key so I will try that. Thanks all for the help.
