To summarize, updating the VLCutility file and upgrading VLC from 2.0.6 to 2.1.5 has solved the problem.

PS: Is there a way to change the default audio bitrate on the H264/MP4A/MPEG-TS preset? I'd like to make it 64. I'm doing that via Manual settings at the moment and the sound is much clearer to me.

This version has the default audio set to 64 instead of 32. 32 was a little low.

How do you actually update this file? I dropped it into the C:\Users\Public\NPVR\web\App_Code\Classes directory and it seems to remember the old one. It also made a mess of my PCH system, but that's another story :-)

My guess is that my changes to the file are VLC-specific. I don't stream to a NMT, so I didn't test other devices that need transcoding done via NEWA (or using that class file). It was probably throwing a command out that the PCH didn't understand.

That's a bummer... I didn't mean to make any changes that would break other things.

I stream to the NMT and it doesn't use transcoding or NEWA. I also have the new NEWA code working fine, jksmurf had another issue perhaps not using newa 2.1.3 or perhaps backing up files in the web folder.

This shouldn't have impacted anything with PCH as nothing other than NEWA interfaces use it. Key is to stop the recording service before updating the file....otherwise the web app will recycle (Which could be why your NMT burped).
