So here's a question for people, do you need to install the MediaMVP Software from Hauppage?

I found that if I installed it there are two services that run:

MVPMedia and MVPMediaSvc

When I turn both of them off... GBPVR seems to boot up on my Tv but when I go to watch a video... no worky... All I get is a black screen. Additionally when I go to run lets say Net Radio, it appears to be working since I see the text change at the bottom of the screen, but no music comes out.

Then when I go and turn on MVPMediaSvc along with the GBPVR Recording service presto... Video and sound return. But there are a few other things that appear messed up like the time at the top of a screen when watching a video doesn't seem to update. Oh yeah and when I go to watch live TV it automatically goes into Stop mode and I have to press play to watch live tv. Ooooh it's soooo bugging me... Anyway, if someone... anyone... could help me out it would be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks,

Dubya

And I thought it was just me!

I have tried to get .avi's playing on my mvp correctly since support was added, and it's been a fairly hit and miss affair; aspect ratio / fullscreen issues (which I can live with), and real bad audio sync (which is more frustrating). The strangest issue that I encountered is with one of my son's d*sney movies; ffdshow plays it as NTSC 29fps (I'm in the states), but reports that it is 25fps (which I know it's not). Result = out of sync v. quickly and unwatchable (and any of you with toddlers out there know that they are not known for their patience!)

Now, the workaround that I used in the interim was to stop gbpvr / start mediaMVP as it 'seems' to play .avis better at the moment (it plays the movie above correctly). On a couple of occasions I have forgot to stop the mvpsvc and have started gbpvr and have found -strange - movie in question plays fine, but the time doesn't update as you describe, if i select a program from the guide and watch it when it ends i get bumped back to the main menu... weird stuff. I even had a problem with panels displaying correctly which I think is attributable to this (I posted in the support forum the weekend).

And it took me while to it figure out... so now I have set mvpsvc to manual so I *know* it's not running, but i'm back to square one with the .avi's; I also have another weird problem that has only started recently, in that when i first turn the mvp on via the remote and go into live tv the mvp hangs 'contacting servers' and i check the pc and it has started recording (ie, green) whatever channel it is on. I restart the recording service, turn the mvp on, and everything is fine.

Is anyone else having similar issues?
