So with the Microsoft video decoder selected for H.264 you're not seeing any video?

Can you put a short sample recording somewhere for me to download? I'll try playing it here.

No video for H.264. Edit, there is video however jaggered and then stalls like SD video. I think perhaps yesterday I may have had it on a different setting which gave black screen???? Or maybe because cricket was in different format dont know. I do no channel nine just recently asked everyone to rescan their HD channel 90 to take into effect new HD

I have uploaded four video's as ff.

Standard SD NEXTPRVR output - https://youtu.be/QZCSflpwTwk

HD NextPVR output - https://youtu.be/mnyrRTjT9bk

Original avermedia software (not working) - https://youtu.be/oJ3Grv7fVSY

And WMC software working and what we normally use to watch TV from multiple computers throughout the house and to record - https://youtu.be/MNV6UaXbUpI

The original avermedia software is not working since driver install to allow use of WMC with this tuner. Not worried about this as normally use WMC. I am mentioning however because I don't think this happened last time with old computer.

I apologise but I have lost the plot ... Please may we go back to first principles.

NextPVR has two components ... The NextPVR Recording Service runs continually and communicates with the tuner device and writes a data stream from the tuner to disk as a file. The NextPVR that you see on screen reads the content of the recording file and plays the recording on screen.

Is the recording service correctly capturing the stream from the tuner and creating a valid file on disk? We can test the validity of the recording file by playing the recording in NextPVR and in VLC because these two programs use a different playback technique and if they both fail to playback anything at all then the recording file is naff.

I suspect that the NextPVR Recording Service is creating a valid recording file and it is playback that is not working well. Playback is affected by the decoders that are used. I and many others use the decoders that are installed by the SAF installer ... http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post414049 ... Send a forum private message to Hoborg and ask for the "unlocked" version that includes the "best" decoders.

Alternatively, you can try the LAV Audio decoder ... the LAV Video decoder has been problematic but might be worth a try ... http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=156191

It is playing for me in NextPVR.

A few little hiccups while playing though, due to continuity errors in the file, ie missing packets - either due to reception issues or network issues at recording time.

Yeah, I think I previously mentioned that it is recording ok? Apologies if I have confused everyone. Do I follow Graham's advice now?

Unfortunately, the recording is not ok. It's mostly there, but seems to have missing chunks of data, either due to signals issues or network issues. This may be enough to account for your missing video - some video decoders refuse to show frames where their is missing/broken data. You'd need to work out if it's your antenna/signal related, or network related.

FYI, these samples you provided where MPEG2 channels.
