Guys

I have an AverMedia TVT5 M779 (Ex Dell) installed in my Dimension 5150. When used with my external arial and Windows Media Centre it gives me lots of digital TV channels without a problem. The drivers are fine.

What I'm trying to do is use the card's analog functions to connect with my (analog) VCR to record old videotapes. The VCR is a nice Sharp model
which can deliver signals via composite video or the RF interface.

Have tried several software packages, WMC, NPVR, MerdiaPortal to acquire the VCR output, so far with no success.

Anybody have a simple suggestion for software which may enable me to grab these old but treasured videos?

Thanks as ever

NextPVR isn't the right sort of software for that job. Maybe look for software that came with the machine, or look for a download on the Avermedia web site.

Corel Videostudio will probably do the job ... It does a lot more than you need but you may be able to get everything done during the free trial.

Anyway you do it you need a tuner capable of receiving analog TV on channel 3 or 4, whichever output your VCR is set to.

In the USA they haven't made video cards with Analog capability for a while since the broadcast is now mandatory Digital. Does your Tuner card receive analog?

I have two of the old Avermedia M791 that does have 2 antenna inputs, one for NTSC (analog) and one for ATSC (digital). I can watch the VCR on channel 3 NTSC via coax. I've never tried to record.

I see that your tuner is PAL/SECAM/DVB-T, so my USA based information is probably useless to you.
