I have a problem on one of my clients. It's an exception that occurs when I press OK in the config application to save my changes and restart the recording services.

The problem has been around for a while and today I tried to de-install the whole GB-PVR application and remove the whole denz folder from the harddisk and make a complate new installation of the GB-PVR application.
Unfortunately with no luck.

I can't see anything in the logs, but I have attached them all.

This is a subset from the exception_shown_on_screen.txt file:

I remember this error occurring once in the past, but the solution was external to GB-PVR so I'm not sure of the exact details.

I do remember they found the solution using google by searching for the error message shown 'Process performance counter is disabled, so the requested operation cannot be performed'.

Basically, GB-PVR is trying to query the list of processes that are running, but some configuration setting on your machine has disabled this ability.

Thanks. I googled around and finally ended up at this page:

MS Support issue - http://support.microsoft.com/?id=300956.

I followed the directions and now it works. I'm running XP SP2
