I've seen times where the recording service "stops" and the show lists as having a full 60 minutes according to the guide information, but you can't see the actual real size/duration. I actually saw 30 seconds of the show before it failed, seeing that information in the view of the recording would mean I'd just delete it. On the old PVR, it showed the file size (and you could somewhat get used to the MB used for an hour and so forth), so if you saw 0 beside it, you know there wasn't anything there, or something so short it wasn't all there.
I've also had a station go off the air for a few minutes (not my fault) and the recording just "sat dormant for it to come back", meaning we lost like 15 minutes in the middle of the show. Again, that information would tell us that something went wrong, even though the recording didn't complain there wasn't any signal in the show's duration. So we watched and then it jumped like 15 minutes into the program and had no clue what went wrong, had to go back to Explorer and right click on the TS for it to see how much time was in it, wasn't 60 mins.
