Keep it at Default ensure you have all the patches http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post506213 and then upload your log on the failed recording.

Hi Martin,

Thanks. I did everything you suggested (applied all patches in the post). It unfortunately did not solve the problem. But, I did learn a new piece of data as I was watching the system when a recording that was failing was in progress. All the behavior was exactly like I described in detail further up this thread. Basically, HDHomeRun Config showed that it thought it was still streaming the program and yet the data was not getting saved to the recording file. I checked the running processes and, contrary to what I reported above, the two NDigitalHost (32 bit) processes WERE NOT RUNNING. So somehow they got killed after the recording started and after only about 1s of the file was recorded.

As requested, I've attached the logs from last night. They exactly match the behavior in the logs I attached above in this thread. Basically, NRecord.log reports sending DigitalRecorder.StopStream() at the right time but the ndigitalhost-20.log never indicates the StopStream.

The show I am referencing is F:\NPVR Recordings\Penn & Teller Fool Us\Penn.&.Teller.Fool.Us.S03E08.Heres.Moxie!.ts.

Thanks for the help. I hope there is a good clue in here for debugging the issue.

Regards,

If you create a c:\temp directory, does a c:\temp\crash.mdmp get created in there?

I do have the C:\Temp, and there is a crash.mdmp file in there, although it is dated from over 3 months ago so not sure if it has any new info. Happy to poke around in it to see if there is anything useful if you have some guidance on how to do that. Thanks.

I am experiencing something similar. I have only been using NextPVR for about a month. Generally things are fine, except I have one particular show that NextPVR refuses to record for some reason. To be more specific, it is a one hour program, PBS Newshour, that airs multiple times a day, but no matter which airing I try to record, it stops after 1 minute and one second. Occasionally it will be a few seconds less or more, but essentially only the first minute out of a 60 minute show. Usually I'm recording an SD version of the show, but same result if it is from an HD channel. I can record other programs from this same station fine. Doesn't matter whether I do a scheduled record or a manual record... same result for this particular show.

I'm using an older model Silicondust HDhomerun (dual tuner). It is an over-the-air ATSC broadcast. Prior to recently upgrading from Win7 to Win10, I was using Windows Media Center with the same tuners and all was well.

I'm running v3.7.7 of NextPVR. Like CellarDoor5, I have the latest firmware and software for HDHomeRun, running under Windows 10. Initially I had the HDHomeRun software's "BDA Compatibilty Mode" configured for "For the Record" based upon some instructions I read, but later tried NextPVR, and based upon other comments on this forum, I switched that a couple days ago to Default, but with no change in symptoms.

And a day or two ago, I applied the following patches:
Patch to fix CC support in 3.7.7
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread...922#post505922

Patch to fix Recording service stops for no reason

Hi Dave,

Good to know there is someone else out there with a similar issue with whom I can commiserate. I am by no means an expert at this, but I looked at your logs and in your case, it appears that for each DigitalRecorder.StartStream() event in the ndigitalhost-20.log file that there is a corresponding DigitalRecorder.StopStream() at the end of the show, I think indicating that the HDHomeRun was effectively told to stop the stream at the right time. That is different than mine where it appears the processes get killed and the HDHomeRun is never given the DigitalRecorder.StopStream() command on failing recordings.

So perhaps you have a different issue? It may be worth doing a similar debug as I did. If you launch HDHomeRun Config and the Task Manager and watch both of them when a recording starts (and fails), you can see if the HDHomeRun still thinks it is streaming the file (which is what happens in my case) and also see if the "NDigitalHost (32 bit)" processes are running throughout or if they die after the 1 min and 1 sec.

I would be curious to hear what happens there.

Cheers,
CellarDoor5
