Did you try nlite? That is NextPVR UI, but with VLC decoders.

I found K lite, but can't find a reference to nlite decoders. I thought VLC was decoder less.

Very Nice. Appears decoders will be a thing of the passed. Worked well on my machine. Live TV seemed to switch channels faster and video quality was consistent. Play back was clear etc.. Next week I plan on trying it out on the poor quality machine 30 miles away. I think Nvidia is a better graphic option than intel. Was testing on my Intel 530 on 60 inch TV, and the geforce 630 seemed sharper and clearer.. Still tuning, but the Nlite will be a winner. So it is using portions of VLC?
Thanks for the help.

Will this be an attempt to run nlite as a client connecting to a NextPVR server that is 30 miles away? As I understand it ... nlite doesn't compress the video stream so you won't have the bandwidth that you need ... plus, I'm not sure how nlite would find a server that is not on a local network.

No, I will download and install Nlite on his machine and give it a shot and see if the quality of the video is as clean as VLC. Also will be testing the Nvideo card verses the 530 on his machine. So far on my TV the Geforce 630 is superior in video quality. Still can't explain why VLC plays better than Kodi or NextPvr with the ffdshow Mpeg2. That one surprised me. Checked the video setting and DXVA was used just like my machine in Kodi. His Sony was a first generation HDMI machine. We set it up a few years back with WMC, and it has performed well. Then I helped him switch to windows 10 and NextPVR. It worked great, but his machine was hit by a lightning. So he purchased an I-3 skylake with the integrated Intel 530. He loves NextPvr, works well and provides everything he and I need. just need to fix the video quality. Maybe the simplest remedy is to install the Geforce 730 fanless and see how it goes (Christmas present for him).
Thanks for the help.
When I tested Nlite, I simply ran the Nlite.exe file and it picked up the channels and recordings. Not sure if I should have set it up differently.

That's what is supposed to happen when nlite is run on the same machine as the NextPVR Recording Service and when nlite is run on a client machine on the same local network as the NextPVR Recording Service.

My understanding is that, by default, ffdshow Mpeg2 DVXA support is off. You have to go in and manually set DXVA support to on.
