G'day folks. So I went ahead and imported my IPTV data using the URL's provided to me from the provider as you suggested Sub. Everything went well as expected as I limited the number of channels to import just to test it out. I now have what you see below. After updating the EPG and exiting to the TV Guide, I do not see any of the imported channels. Do I need to add in a plugin in order to watch them or what? Thanks in advance...cheers!

Update...I forgot to mention that my XMLTV file source from the URL ends with a .gz. Does NPVR read a gz file or do I need to extract that information and import as a .xml file?

Update 2...So by accident, I right clicked on the TV Guide. So I then clicked on channels and then a channel and lo and behold, the IPTV channel started to play. I check out a few other channels and they too worked. So it appears to be working using the "pinned" channels but the channels (IPTV) do not appear in the TV Guide. Help?

Update 3... Woo hoo...While I had that "pinned" channels open I noticed at the top there was a drop down box where the "All Channels" was being displayed. The drop down had a slew of choices so I went back to the guide and went to groups and there was my answer. I clicked on "all channels" and bam they all appeared. Nice, very nice. Looks like my channel order was fixed too.

What do you mean? Are those IPTV channels listed in your Settings->Channels screen not visible in your TV guide? If not, have you tried restarting the app?

Yes, it can handle a .gz file

Thanks sub looks like we were writing at the same time. So far so good. So on to the final task of seeing if NPVR can handle my music and video files as well. If this all works out well, I can eliminate Emby as well. yay...Cheers!

G'day mate...Well looks like I got everything working just fine. I didn't try out the videos or my music just yet because I was working through getting my pc client to connect with the pc which has NPVR installed on it. I got that working just fine but I do have a question. When I launch NPVR from the client pc I get a warning/error screen that says it cannot connect to the server and to check my server name and db config. But then after a few seconds it goes away and I have a full connection to the NPVR pc. Is this normal or is something not right?

On a similar concern, all 3 of my pc's are running windows 10 pro including the NPVR pc. Would everything work better if I configured the pc that has NPVR on it to a server? I have windows server software so if things would work a lot better I can go that route.

As far as MPVR setup is concerned, everything is working real good and I am definitely going to be dumping Kodi, WinTV and probably Emby. I need to keep Emby alive for the time being until I test out NPVR's capabilities to play my videos and music. Currently Media Monkey and Emby handle my videos and music. Sure would be great if I can cut everything down to just one software. Again, thanks for the assist and a great job on NPVR. Once I get everything settled in I will be looking into some of the skins and plugins to enhance the project. Cheers!

Is the NPVR "server" machine going to sleep?

The BDA software that NPVR relies on is not part of Windows Server and has to be installed on top of Windows Server. There is no known benefit of using Windows Server on the NPVR "server" machine.

I would recommend the Movies Plugin for Movies - the built in videos for non-movie videos Rolleyes

I run Media Companion on the Folders that contain Movies to get all the Metadata and Artwork. Movies Plugin is handling over 300 Blu-ray Quality mkv's no problem.

For my large Music Collection I have NPVR start Media Monkey from the Main Menu - there is a Media Monkey plugin, but it does not have any Visualizations capability. So I use Media Monkey with Monkeyflow and R4 Viz for the Bling (Makes a perfect Plasma Conditioner as well Smile ) All accessed from NPVRs Main Menu.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

G'day Graham...Thanks for the feedback. The NPVR pc is not in sleep mode. At first I thought that might be the problem but I restarted it just to be sure and once it was up and running, I went to my client pc and it gave me the same results. Maybe its just a timing lag but like I said after a few seconds (like 2) everything loads up and I'm good to go. I was just concerned that maybe I didn't set something up correctly and I wanted to get it fixed and stable before I went on to my next task

I thought BDA was a MS standard and was included on all of its Operating Systems. If not I most likely can dl it from somewhere. But if there is no noticeable advantage I guess it would be a waste of energy so thanks for that input. The processor on that NPVR setup is an I7-4790 Quad Core. Maybe I will just upgrade that to something more roust. I know I have to say with the socket 1150 else I would have to get another MB to go to a robust 1151 like the 8086K. Thanks again.

Very nice Pan...I was looking over the NPVR native plugins last night and I did notice those you mentioned. I will give that a go for sure. Thanks again. Cheers!

On another subject but still related to my project, as stated before all 3 of my pc's are W10Pro 64bit based. In order to access the NPVR server, I had to share and configure permissions in order to access from a client pc. That is why I was thinking of going the server route but since there is no benefit I will stick to the current builds. MS Windows use to have something called homegroup (?) that simulated accessing another pc like you would on a server environment. But that feature has since gone with the intro of 1803 so I am left with sharing/permission configurations on the NPVR machine and client machine as well. Anybody else using a different scheme? Thanks in advance. Cheers!

It is not likely that you will need to upgrade hardware. If you are using NextPVR as the software on your client machines (rather than using web access or Kodi or some other exotica that require transcoding), then the server machine does relatively little work.

You might like to load the setup by getting six or eight simultaneous recordings on the go plus three or four clients viewing past recordings and use Task Manager to see the load on the "server".
