Im completely lost now I have Girder and this redeye serial. Does anyone have any "simple" instructions on how to set this up in GBPVR?
I have tested it with the demo software and it works changing channels but I have no idea how to set this up to run with GBPVR.

I gave up using Girder, just use the RedEye serial, and the DOS command program on the redeye web page (cmdline2). I'm stuck at work at the moment, so can't give exact details, but its something like;-

select .exe changer plugin in capture source
the parameters are something like redeye2 -port=com1 {channel} (i think)

I stuck the redeye2.exe in the gbpvr folder

I'll check tomorrow morning when I get home

If you are using girder, the best way I found to get it to work with gb-pvr is have girder send keyboard signals to gbpvr (this means you don't need to have a channel changer set up in gbpvr). In the keyboard tab, put in whatever needs to be put in as far as the keys go, click on target, drag the little target to the window, and uncheck "Class Name." Make sure you hit apply after, that is the most important thing ever. If you want I can send you my girder file and you can see how I have it set up.

As for the redeye serial, you will probably have to see if there is a plugin for it (which I'm sure there is). Since my firefly remote was USB, it just magically worked, except I needed the firefly plugin to do repeat key holddowns.

I've stuck the REDEYE2.exe in the GBPVR folder.
In config I set to exe changer plugin and pointed this to the redeye2 file.
Set the com port with -port=com1.{channel} and it doesn't work!
I managed to bring up an onscreen message instead of changing channel.

I know this works with the redeye demo software.
It would really help if you could take a look at your settings CamelUK and get back to me. I know Im getting close now...

Can you also confirm that when setting a channel listing I put in the exact same channel number for each individual channel on the ntl box?
Sorry to bother you with all these questions but I don't come from a programming background, therefore will have to ask some really stupid questions.

Cheers

In the .exe Channel Changer screen the executable line is

c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\redeye2.exe

The parameter line is

-port=com1 "={channel}"

The zero pad and use 3 digits boxes are both ticked

The redeye serial is connected to com1 on the PC

For the NTL channels

On the Recording Source screen, The source channel numbers match the channel number on the NTL STB

i.e for my area Sky News is on channel 120 on the STB so the source channel is 120. BBC News 24 is on channel 10 on the STB so the source channel is 10

I used the Radio Times XMLTV application to grab my epg

To get the channels shown in a better order than the cryptic order NTL sets them up in, I use the Channels TAB to reorder them i.e

BBC News 24 Channel Number 150
Sky News Channel Number 151

This does mean that if I want to switch channel through Live TV, I have to remember that BBC News 24 is on channel 150 on the remote and not 10 as on the STB, but I'm happy with this as it makes looking through the epg far easier.

I select channel 150 on the remote, and GB-PVR sends 10 to the STB

I hope this helps,I found GB-PVR a little difficult to configure when I originally had it, but I love the flexiblity it offers, and I get a far better understanding how it all works, rather than something that is autoconfiguring and walks you through config with a wizard, when I found your not really sure whats going on
