I've tried all sorts of PVR software and GBPVR works better than any other with my Hauppage pvr-350.
GBPVR doesn't hog the mouse, runs as a background task, uses the Hauppage 350 mp2 hardware a/v output complete with a GUI. This frees up both my vga monitors. I am able to use my pc normally while my wife uses the hauppage remote and the living room tv - nice.

They say never look a gift horse in the mouth but it would be a nice touch if the following could be addressed.

Ability to play any type of video such as DiVx via 350's a/v output.
Net radio is desirable from this socket as well.
Ability to render to the VGA overlay at the same time instead of the "video is playing back using the tv out" etc message. You don't get this with wintv so I guess it's possible.
S-Vid and composite inputs sem to have been neglected.
I can't get the default recording quality to stay on low.
Ability to view or inturrupt currently recording programs when selecting live tv.

Keep up the good work, this software is the best of it's kind regardless of the above suggestions.

Sorry, this isnt going to happen.

You can already do this, but you need to loop the tv audio out from the PVR350 into the line in you sound card, then line out to your TV. This is what most people do, and will give you music etc that wasnt available when you connected directly from the PVR350 to the TV.

Sorry, I also wont be doing this. Its a bit difficult the way I've done things.

Huh? You can use the S-Video and Composite inputs, but you have to set up a capture source for them.

This comes up often. When you do a "quick record" it always uses the "medium" profile (which in hind-sight I should have called "default"). The place you are trying to switch to "low" is not for setting the default recording profile, its for editing each of the profiles. You select which profile when you make the recording. You can always change the medium/default settings to lower bitrate/resolution etc if you want.

Would it be equally difficult to have a realtime switch to allow for software decoding of divx and such? So we could play those files in gbpvr without having to change decoding type in the config app and restart?

Wow, a reactive forum
"You can run MCE 2005 as a shell only and use GBPVR as the main front end better performance that way"
And how would that work with the 350's mp2 hardware output? I must use this because it makes sense for the tv card to deal with all available aspects of the PVR.
I'm already running MCE 2005 If you could elaborate.

"you need to loop the tv audio out from the PVR350 into the line in"
Yes of course but I dont want to listen to Eastenders whilst playing Doom 3 for example. The Hauppage decoder output is routed to the home cinema, Windows audio is for my headphones.

Am I right in assuming that DiVx or whatever would need to be transcoded to mp2 and fed to the 350 realtime if I ever got my wish?

Ok, but you have no other option then. You wont be able playback audio files through the audio connector of the PVR350 TV out.

Yes, but given the problems with this device which are out of my control, I'm no longer actively developing features for this hardware. The PVR350 support is going to stay in its current state. Sorry.
