Thought it was time for someone to make a positive evaluation if this app. We have been using this app for the last 4 months (once I had the courage to cut the ties with NextPVR V4 and the NMT’s), with little or no issues. I am running the UI on 3 different brands of “smart” TVs and a Smartvu 4k SV11 dongle on an old 32” Samsung TV. One or other of the system will be in use for a large part of the day/evening. I now prefer to watch through the UI than the PC client as I did for years. Also switching servers is much easier then with the NMT.
There have been some issues with connection to the TVs on waking NextPVR but these appear to have been sorted by replacing the 2 old PVR’s with new Win 11 machines – and turning on “wake on LAN” in the Bios.
The skip in TS files is much more responsive than in the client and response time quicker than the NMT’s.
Having used MVP’s then NMT’s since they became available (10?, 15? years ago) I can say this UI is a definite step forward.
The negatives are not with the UI but the V5 client – it misses a number of features available in V4, that I had gotten used to. This is mostly because I use the video library for all the movies and leave the recording feature for the wife’s soaps etc. This trend started in the old GBPVR days.
Finally, I would like to thank Martin for his work on this and the earlier clients. You have made my wife happy over the years, being able to watch her “favourites” when she wants to, while I’m working away from home!
