I have the IR Blaster set up to talk to my cable box which works fine. When I set it up to record, it changes the channel then shuts down the recording service based on watching communication on the Sygate firewall. If I change the config to No Channel Changer Required, it records fine. I have tried having the Hauppauge IR program on and off, no change. Yesterday, somehow it worked for a while but when I turned the computer on today, it failed and I haven't been able to get it going again. The only consistency is turning the Hauppauge IR Changer off and have it work. Of course then I can't change channels! I have searched the forum and haven't been able to find anything.

Also, when I change the Quality Profile Setting, it doesn' stick. If I go back in, it is back at Medium.....

You know Man, I have exactly the same issue with IR Blaster and the recording quality not sticking. I checked all the logs after the recording service failed and there is nothing that can indicate whats going on. I've already sent the logs to the admin, see what he comes up with..

One more thing that I had been thinking was to change the padding time for recording. That may be something causing the arash, you know what I am talking about ?? Its the minutes before and after the program. I think they are adjustable.

Hey one more thing, can you confirm what kinda a motherboard you have and what drivers you are using? I have read somewhere that updating mobo drivers sometimes help especially if you have VIA 4 in 1 mobo driver. I have that one.

It's not supposed to "stick". When you view this screen, it always shows medium initially. This is only used for editing each of the profiles.

You select what recording profile to use when you actually schedule a record. If you do a "quick record" it always uses the "medium". Of course you can always edit the "medium" profile if you are not happy with the defaults.

I have SIS Mother board...

As to the sticky Quality Setting, I'm talking about changing it in config. Shouldn't I be able to set a default of High, Medium or Low or the others? If I do a Quick Record or record from live tv, I don't have the option except through some default setting. I guess I realize from your post, Sub, that in the config, all I am adjusting is the parameters associated with Low Medium and High etc. I guess based on that, I would like to see a Default that I could set.

Thanks for your efforts!

The "medium" setting is the default setting. In hindsight, I should have called it "Default" because it have caused less confusion.

In my frustration, I continue to poke around and there is a couple of things I found and they point to the .NET part...

From the Event Viewer-Applications:
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( .NET Runtime ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: .NET Runtime version 1.1.4322.2032- gbpvrrecordingservice.exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services: Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

and from the Event Viewer-System:
The GB-PVR Recording Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 15 time(s).

Don't know if it helps but I thought I'd pass it along.
