I think so, the logs don't show you hitting stop, (the square box at the bottom) so I did a test here and I did hit the square but I didn't always see it logged either.  When I tried in the browser I see these

GET http://localhost:8866/service?method=rec...osition=42 NS_BINDING_ABORTED
GET http://localhost:8866/services/service?m...scode.stop NS_BINDING_ABORTED

Meaning the calls are being cancelled not going to the server Sub will need to look.

To confirm I ran the connection through a proxy, and the client is aborting the transactions. One thing I see in the proxy is this command isn't asking for JSON maybe the call doesn't always return an image?

Using .getJSON() seems to work for me sometimes but calls need need to be sync or it will regularly fail. Using .ajax with sync solves the problem, but maybe some waits are better? Also when it is sync the unload even works so you don't have to hit stop and you can even kill the browser and playback stops.

Now that it resume some timeline issue so you can't trust it it doesn't match the time on screen (which has 2 x start seconds)
