The subject says it all really.
My current setup - I have an internal wifi network (downstairs) provided by my cable broadband router, upstairs a wifi repeater which connects (via wifi) to the router downstairs and has a hard wired connection to an 8 port hub which connects to my desktop and my npvr server (and other stuff). Downstairs, UiDroid is installed on a "generic" Android box connected to my TV HDMI and it connects to my npvr server using its own internal wifi (it's not hard wired to the router) and it simply finds the server somehow (general scan of any device with port 8866 open?).
Reason for asking - my new-ish server has an M.2 slot specifically for a wifi card and I'd like to install one and setup a hotspot and have the Android box connect directly instead of going through the general wifi network provided by the cable router and upstairs wifi repeater.
Cheers,
Brian
