I updated to the latest last night and experienced problems playing avi's (divx or xvid) through the video library. AVI's freeze after a few seconds. These files worked fine with version 908 (released in february). I had the same problem with the previous release and went back to ver 908 and all was fine. I would like to be able to get past this problem so I can use the current release.

My System:
PII 350 mhz
320 mb ram
.net 1.1
Hauppauge PVR250
XCARD

What I have tried so far:
Uninstalled GBPVR completely including directories, ran regclean.
Uninstalled .net 1.1 and re-installed. Re-installed GBPVR 0.92.8

What I will try tonight:
See if same problem occurs with mpeg file
See if an avi on the C drive where gbpvr is installed will play correctly (My avi's are all on a different drive)
Try capturing something new and see if this file will work correctly.

I realize that you may need logs to diagnose what is wrong. I will try to post them tonight but I was hoping maybe someone has had this problem and fixed it somehow. Did anything change concerning the xcard since Feb 05?

Not that I'm aware of. My XCard hasn't been in my machine since at least that long ago.

Sub,

The problem seems to be somewhat intermittent. It doesn't seem to depend on what type of file (avi or mpeg), it sometimes freezes within a few seconds of playing. I have attached my logs. I know you are probably very busy helping others with their problems, but please look at the logs if you get a chance.

Thank You

Landru22, unfortunately there is nothing obvious in those logs.

Ok. Thanks for taking a look anyway. It appears that I'm the only one with this problem. It may be due to the fact that my pvr system is only a PII 350. Maybe the newer releases require a little more horsepower? Anyway, I'll post if I find anything out.

Just an FYI. After a file freezes in gbpvr I am able to play the same file without a problem in Real Magic's X-Media player. For now I'm going to have to go back to ver 908. Any other Xcard users experiencing these problems? If you are an Xcard user, please let me know how the last few releases have been for you. Thanks.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I am seeing this same problem with v 95.16. I have converted both DVDs and MPEGs to AVI using DIVX/XVID and the converted files will play using the Xcard and Xmedia software. When I try to access the files through GBPVR, only the first few seconds will play before the file freezes.

I have found a partial work-around by using the MyVideos plugin and also disabling “live TV preview”. This solution however has its own quirks. I can play a video, but if I stop the first video and try to play a second video, the second file will freeze in a few seconds. I still play the first video, but none of the other videos in the library will play without freezing. If I exit out to the main menu and then return to MyVideos, whichever file I choose first will play and any subsequent selections will freeze.

Finally, the standard Video Library shows the same behavior as above if I have MyVideos enabled. But when MyVideos is disabled, none of the files will play using Video Library.

I realize the Xcard isn’t really supported anymore, but thought it would be worthwhile to describe my solution to this problem.
