Hi!

I've decided to make a fresh install of Windows XP right now after I failed to figure out what is making my video freeze for 10 seconds then video plays fast to catch up to audio.

If my HDPVR is recording then the Blue light will turn off and effectly kill the movie. The recordings menu shows it as still recording but it is not.

The computer ran nicely forever then I installed a western digital 1,5tb green drive and was able to record about 600 gigs on it before the video pause problem.

the movie timelines on new recordings from my pvr500 recordings are very weird showing a much shorter time and I though comskip may have been a problem with that but i downloaded the latest and same thing.

Does anyone here use a western digital green 1.5tb drive or any green drive and do you have problems with it?

It is important to note that I moved the recording dir to another drive and still had the problems...

There are no encodings running when this happens and I end up with 50 percent of complete recordings give or take.

Any idea?

Can't help with your drive question - but the time problem of PVR500 and fresh install makes me wonder if you may have missed a tweak or patch.
Very long PVR150 timeline thread here (guess pvr500 is similar??) http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=14006

Hi!

well fresh install and none of my recordings finished.

I recall the timestamp being different then the problem I am experiencing. I will install the driver now and check it out. Thanks for the tip.

the mpg files below say they are under 8 minutes in gbpvr and they show up as around 27 minutes in media player and are half hour shows so i'm guessing the recordng completed?
The .ts file is about 3 minutes.

Here are the logs maybe they are of help.

I had to turn off System Restore on my non system disks. Otherwise my extra disks would spin up every so often causing a pause/skip in the the video.

Good luck on the fresh install.

Thinking back, also check your drive interfaces are running at max transfer rate. Mine occasionally drop to PIO mode causing all sorts of nasties. http://winhlp.com/node/10

Well I think the Western Digital green drive 1.5tb drive is crap. I decided to fill up the remaining 700 gigs with already recorded movies and not use it much. I am recording on the other drives and the freezing and time problems dissapeared and if I watched a show on the green drive it would freeze the video momentarily but seems to not effect the other drive recording that much so I will never purchase a green drive again. Theory is when I recorded on the green drive it timed out and brought the syste =m down taking the hdpvr with it and the pvr500 would glitch and continue and that presented the problems with the time line as the video showed as under 10 minutes but was actually much longer in media player and some where of course truncated. What a mess.

A possiblitity is the drive was a dud to begin with and I just got a bad one but I am not in the mood to clear the drive of data and do a test that lasts a day so I am not going to bother with RMA research on it...

Thanks everyone for the input.
