I just installed the latest version of GBPVR 092.8 and now nothing works with it. When I try to update the EPG, I get an error message stating my EPG Source settings are wrong. So I emptied my EPG Source and started over with the same result. I even went as far as creating a new account with Zap2it but it does not work either. I can logon to these accounts but cannot update EPG from Config.

I had the EPG working in the previous version and was successful in updating the EPG and viewing the listings. However, GBPVR never did allow me to set recordings or use LiveTV. It always gave me the message-- "Error: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it."

Here is my setup:

Recording Source: Direct Recording Plugin
EPG Source: Zap2it (USA,Canada only)
Channel Changer: No channel changer required

Recording Source Settings:
Capture Card Type: Hauppauge WINTV-PVR-USB2
Country: Canada
Board Number: Capture Device #1 (not sure what this is???)
Source: Internal Tuner (I assume for my external USB capture device)
Tuning: Cable

You must have a firewall or similar getting in the way of communications with zap2it. There is currently no known problems with this area of the application, and it hasnt changed in at least six months.

Email you logs to me at support@devnz.com and I'll see if I can give you a more accurate diagnosis.

Nothing has changed with my firewall and Zap2it was working prior to the GBPVR update. I just checked my firewall settings and nothing is blocked. Where are these logs that you would like me to send?

Thanks for the support.

Ok... I just went back to my firewall settings and deleted Config from the list (even though it showed allowed on incoming and outgoing ports). I tried the Update EPG again and it worked! So, what I think happened is that the firewall still had the old Config and not the upgraded version. By deleting it, the firewall refreshed and now has the new version Config on its allowed list.

HOWEVER... I still cannot record or watch Live TV using GBPVR. The TV listings are all showing ok but when I select a program to record I get the "Error: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it" message. Just like before the upgrade. See my original message in this thread for my settings in this regard.

ALSO... when I exit from Config or if I choose Restart Recording Service from the GBPVR tray button, I get the following error message:
"Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Process id=0xf0c (3852), Thread id=0x734 (1844)."

Sounds like you've got a firewall getting in the way of communications between the client and the recording service.

Firewall software needs to know that GBPVR has been upgraded so that it will allow it to communicate properly. This happens all the time with Symantec Firewall, except it puts a pop-up when a new programme is trying to communicate,

Cheers,
Colin.

Thanks for all the help with this. I went back to my firewall settings and deleted the 2 references to GBPVR that I found there. I then manually added them (one for the recording service and the other for the system tray app.) setting the option to "allow" for both. This did the trick! I can now use the Program Listings (Zap2it) to record via GBPVR. Cool.
