Hi Sub

This is a very nice work, I really like the OSD on the PVR-350.
I have been looking in the forum for some weaks. Yesterday i bought the PVR-350 card.
I Installed V012a and later V013. But I got problems when changing channels in live TV. The very cool mini guide works fine, but when I pick a channel or change the channel with the CH- CH+ my PC freezes totally. I have to plug out the power. My system is not so fast,
so my question is, is that the problem, before buying at new PC on monday ? it works with Win TV2000 but with some delay.
(I got a Celeron 533, 256 Mb, Graphics SIS 620 shared memory, but the graphic card is not used to display the image on TV).

Another question is: why is the image displayed on TV a little smaller than the same channel displayed on the TV with its own tuner. There are also no problem with WinTV2000. It also means that on some programs, I can see some time code at the buttom of the screen (small white line). Can I change some parameters in an ini file to make it a little bigger like in winTV2000 ?
And will it in a later release be possible to adjust light, contrast and color like in WinTV2000 ?

Just for information. EPG works here in Denmark, but I have to remove the +0100 information from all start and stop times before updating the EPG, But I can live with this.

Great program, you must make a way for donations so you can get some more hardware like an ekstra
TV tuner card and an MVP.

It's not just me then!

I also get total freeze requiring a reset when changing channels (all recent versions including .13)

I've posted details of all the combinations I could think of here:

http://66.227.87.4/gbpvr/

Seems to only happen with tv-out enabled.

My system is 512mb / 1.7 Athlon so it seems unlikely that its a CPU / chipset issue.

sub - let me know if there is anything I can do to help debug this.

many thanks

Andy

Jan, on the screen size problem - you're just seeing the overscan behaviour of televisions. Usually part of the picture is not visible on a TV.

You can try adjusting the sizes listed in the config.xml file

<PVR350Width>640</PVR350Width>
<PVR350Height>520</PVR350Height>
<PVR350OffsetX>45</PVR350OffsetX>
<PVR350OffsetY>20</PVR350OffsetY>

The amount of overscan varies depending on the TV, and the defaults settings may not be appropriate on your television.

roo, you've done a great job with those tests!

Just so I understand clearly, with the "No channel changer, tv-out, wintvcap" situation does your machine lock up?

roo, I suspect I may need to make up a version that has lots of debug code in PVR350 playback routine and get you to try it for me. The problem doesn't occur here, so its kind of difficult to test.

I know there are certain SageTV users having the exact same problem, so there maybe something driver related going on here.

Hi sub

Happy to try a debug version to help track this down - I've cleaned up this page a little with some new logs and clearer headings:

http://66.227.87.4/gbpvr/

I can't get wintvcap option to work - live-tv files are not being created (page updated with wintvcap logs)

many thanks

Just an initial observation about why WinTVCap didn't record - it looks like it can find the writer component WinTVCapWriter.ax. To fix this up, find the file WinTVCapWriter.ax and register it using regsvr32.

Here was the line from the log.

304 BuidGraph: CoCreateInstance(CLSID_WinTVCapWriter) -- FAIL, (0x8007007E) Win32: The specified module could not be found.

sorry - the wintvcap problem was my fault - I had renamed the install directory for wintvcap to see if that would help!

From what I can remember the symptoms with wintvcap (before I'd renamed the directory), were that channels changing worked a a couple of times and then stopped. Clicking 'home' and then 'live tv' showed the same paused image, or blank screen on 'live tv'. The application was responsive however and did not freeze, unlike with direct-recording

Will run tests again when I'm back at home and update logs.

thanks

Andy
