Hi,

after setting the gbpvr recording service priority from high to normal and later replacing the mpeg splitter from directx 9b with that version from 9c this odd 0kb recordings seems to be gone, with one tuner records. both sources work on its own with either cyberlink or ss (ss usual gives the smoother picture on the mvp).

But if i record from two sources simultaneous it will fail, nearly 100%:

either both files are 0kb recordings or only some minutes will be written at both files. the tray icon stays green forever, shows "recording" bla.... All following records dont start. No errors shown in the logs (the recording service log shows "record done" at right time, then no more entry). anyone succesfull uses a similar setup?

Why does the record service not terminate in case of an recording-error than it could be restarted by the system and the following records can take place ????

I've never tried two DVB device in my machine, so I cant be sure it works. That said, I dont know of anything that would stop it.

Set up a test that shows the error, then email the logs to me at support@devnz.com and I'll see if I can see anything.

It's possible the ShowShifter MUX wasnt designed to have multiple instances in the same process, which may be a possible cause for this problem.

while testing a new mux (cyberlink 4.0.0.2122), i have tested multituner record too and it failed again after round about one minute, the log is attached. the latest showshifter mux i have (3.1.0.2557) does the same behavior (as other mux's too). the recording service stops suddenly writing data to disk, and stays forever in the "thinking its recording" - state: at least the tray icon.

i noticed log-lines like this one:
01:23:04.749 VERBOSE SetMuxInfo2() did not return S_OK

the last two recordings in the log are overlapping at:
01:22:53.202 (record to hd)
01:23:04.670 (livetv to mvp: recording)

Other than the following message, everything looks ok in logs:

01:22:54.061 VERBOSE locked=0 present=0 strength=-20 quality=0

This isnt necessarily a problem, as some BDA drivers dont seem to report their signal strength.

Thats normal, and nothing to worry about.

but the problem itself is still there. and at some point the tray icon looses the connection to its recording service, it still report its recording, even after the recording service wrote "StopRecording()" in the log. there must be a slightl difference between the logs and what realy happens. if I later restart the recording by hand the tray icon switches to red.

Yes I know. I was just saying there was no clues in the logs as to what was causing the problem.

thanks sub,

i keep trying figure it out. maybe i unpack my old c++ after a long time and try out this nasty ms tv control to find out if this is a driver related problem. perhaps it is. perhaps someone else uses the same two bda devices succesfull. then its somthing else ...

again sub,
thanks for your help and for doing a good job with gbpvr
