I started out with a 0.91.12 installation and a WinTV-PVR-150 (retail) tuner card. My GB-pvr has been working fine for about three weeks.

Wanting to record and watch multiple programs at one time, I aquired a WinTV-PVR-500MCE. I installed the card and connected a second antenna connection to it. The first card works fine, but no matter what I do, I can't seem to get the second card to work.

The 150 is installed in PCI slot 0. I have it configured as Capture Source "PVR150", Hauppauge PVR 150 driver, Capture Device #1. It seems to be working fine.

The trouble starts when I try to configure the 500. The 500 MCE is installed in PCI slot 3. My sound card is in PCI slot 2. I have tried to configure it as "PVR500-A" and "PVR500-B" using the Hauppauge 500 driver and Capture devices #2 through 6. I couldn't get it to record anything. Next I tried configuring it using the Hauppauge 150 and 150 MCE drivers and it still doesn't work.

When that didn't work, I saved my original installation and uninstalled GB-pvr. Wanting to use my original database, I installed a fresh installation of 0.91.12, and went through the same process. I still can't get the PVR to recognize the 500.

What am I missing here guys?

Ok, it's definitely the 500 MCE. I removed the 150 retail, and moved the 500 MCE to PCI slot 1. Now GB-pvr can't see a recording device. Any thoughts guys?

Not being one to let things go easily, I stayed up half the night trying to get it to work. I ended up uninstalling the GB-pvr and using the Hauppauge tool to uninstall the drivers. I rebooted the box with only the 500 MCE and it detected new hardware and installed the Hauppauge drivers again. This time the card worked. Next I reinstall the 150 retail and it appears to be working.

I have the capture source list is setup as follows:
PVR500-1 - Hauppague 500 - Capture Device #1
PVR500-2 - Hauppauge 500 - Capture Device #2
PVR150 - Hauppauge 150 - Capture Device #3

Now the PVR500-1 and the PVR150 are working fine, but I'm having trouble with the second tuner on the 500 MCE (PVR500-2). When I schedule 2 or more recordings the recording assigned to the PVR500-2 says it's recording in the Recording Status utility, but the newly created directory is empty. If I cancel that recording and go into Live TV, I can watch whatever I want. The Recording Status utility shows Live TV.

I'm getting close. I just need to figure out why I'm able to watch Live TV but not recording on the second tuner.

This morning I ran one more test. I deleted the PVR500-2 instance and recreated. This placed it at the bottom of the list, making the Capture Source list look like this:

PVR500-1 - Hauppague 500 - Capture Device #1
PVR150 - Hauppauge 150 - Capture Device #3
PVR500-2 - Hauppauge 500 - Capture Device #2

Now the first two things that I record work correctly, but the third fails when recording. I can record two things and use the third Capture Source to watch Live TV, but not record. It creates a directory for the third program and shows that it's recording in the Recording Status, but it never creates an MPG file for the program (the same as the last test). This configuration works for now. The chances that I would record three programs at the same time are pretty slim. However, I would like to get them all recording.

While watching the Recording Status utility, I notice that it displays the recordiing in reverse order. The first recording (on PVR500-1) goes to the bottom of the list, Capture Source #3, even though when I configured the capture source it was on capture device #1. The PVR150 is displayed in the Recording Status as Capture Source #2, even thought I configure it as Capture Device #3, and the PVR500-2 displays in the Recording Status as capture source #1 (enve though it is configured using Capture Device #2. A little confusing, but I can deal with that.

My problem was solved as well. Sub replied to another thread I mentioned it on and said that there was a patched NativeUtilities.dll file out there that would fix the problem. I applied that and all three tuners are working now.
