Yes! Worked for me too (considering I started this thread I should have been keeping a better eye on it!). It just installed like a dream - no errors - full update!

Very happy about it too - just had to spend about 6 hours the othernight rebuilding my office pc getting email servers and everything back up and running as my latest hardware update (from p4 3g to AMD 64) didn't want to even run a repair install over the top as I've done throught the last couple of hardware changes so I didn't really want to have to clean install my lounge pc as well!!!

Thanks to everyone who experimented with this especially ANDALJU and SUB for the final solution. Are you going to keep this method as the final pack method on all updates now Sub or perhaps release both? As it sounds like its issues with Wise calling installers on some systems I'm assuming it would fail on the next install using the old method too - its not like now that we've caught up we're ok.

Yes, I've changed the master install script to use this mechanism.

Let's hope it doesnt introduce new issues when upgrading machine with the service installed this way...
